Activision not so dumb after all? Suffering from ads?

As far as I knew, the official Activsion website always refered to Apolyton as 'a fansite' or 'a source for news/downloads', nothing more. And after they gave up on CtP2 in late 2000, I thought they never made any reference to Apolyton again. However, today I was browsing the Activision website and found this:

Question
Where can I download scenarios for the game?

Answer
Try the following website, it's by far the best website for all the "civ" games

www.apolyton.net

Source (date: 08/02/2002 05:33 PM (only 5 months ago!))

So at least they're not completely stupid over there after all

Got spare money?

that's cool of them, although i havent seen this domain(custhelp.com) in our referrals reports

and yes, the activision guys had always been very cooperative(except from the top-level manager who decided to kill the series ).

infogrames also lists us in the support pages...

Of course, Mr Ogre, Lt. John, St Swithin and the rest have always been great, but our experiences with tech support, the only kind of contact we've had with Activision since they abandoned the game, are overall pretty poor. Some of their responses to emails from Apolytoners have been posted on this forum in the past 2 years, look them up if you feel like getting depressed Once or twice were they actually helpful, but mostly they just try to find a weak excuse to blame any problems on the user (of course, most tech support departments do that (because 99% of the time it IS the user's fault) but it could still be a lot better). So this was certainly a very pleasent surprise...

Of course, the information is very well hidden, so I'm not surprised we're not getting any referrals from them...

But at least it proves they still know we exist, even after 2 years...
