I see. I like original rules because then everyone is on the same track. Mods to me are like Chess or Poker variants -- only a select small group play the variants but the majority of people play using the original rules. I'm sure the mods have their advantages over the original in some ways, but I think the standardization outweighs the benefits of the mods. Just my opinion.

I think we are missing a serious point here, the AI. Unmodded, the AI sucks monkey balls. The only challenge I get from it anymore is when they start with 5 or more settlers and over 500,000 gold. Yet still the AI can only defeat me with alien life. There was a small discussion about having more than 1 president and play in a PBEM fashion, but I think we will have to wait for our community to grow first.
Quinns, I agree with you that an unmodded game will go well because "everyone [will be] on the same track. " But MedMod does have its problems too. Namly people are not as familur with its tech tree, units, wonders, and city improvments. Also there is the absents of Constitutional Monarchy. Froz did you fix that on yours? And, if I am not mistaken, most of the above mentioned mods are combined in MedMod.
I could play the game with or without mods. That is my final answer

I also place my vote strongly on Med Mod based on the fact that ever since i found out about the Apolyton site and DLed the Med Mod i have always used it to play SP!

I vote for med mod it has lots of extras and has great units the timescale is also better unmodded there is too much future stuff and not enough past.

Whatever happens, have Harlan's mod. I can't see any problem with that.
