download the game, version 2.7.2 from here
www.Zangband.org
the contest is being run on two different sites, here and at CG, www.counterglow.com
download the save, stick it into the save folder, and change the name to remove the .txt (this is after you already installed zangband)
everytime you die, downlad the save again (or have a save copy would probably be better), and rename it again
inside the game, go open, instead of newgame, and open the save that you downladed from here
