Automatic Mode Get a bigger avatar today!

I've allowed all units to be automated. Together with City Governors and the automatic tech chooser, everything but diplomacy is automated. This seems to be as close as you can get to the "No human player" mode in Civ 2. It is very useful when you want to test new modifications without really playing the game.

Is there anything else that can be automated?

Okay, automating units makes sense sometimes, especially for exploration - I myself like automating explorers and certain ships - but automating military units in war, not so much. The AI is not very smart, and if you automate units, even with them exploring your borders, the enemy can slip right by and annihilate undefended colonies.
Automated settlers makes no sense to me. I usually have a planned layout for my cities (but then my plan is usually cultural expansion, and I like placing cities around enemy cities and then giving them all the culture I can - when I can't just steamroll them with my military), and just letting settlers build cities wherever the AI decides is best means that you go after the same places the other AI civilizations want, which leads to conflict pretty quickly.
But maybe that's just me.

Well, as I wrote, I automate everything to test new modifications. It isn't much of a challenge to have everything automated, especially since you usually gett your butt kicked on Warlord.

It might also help if you tick of graphical effects and "wait at end of turn". Besides that, I don't think it's possible to automate more.

For testing, you can also try to add units to the scenario before you start it.

I don't build scenarios, I'm just making a mod.
