Official: Jedinica borehole poll Support Apolyton

This is a five-day multichoice poll, open for every Peacekeeper citizen, though I'd like to know the opinion of Jedinica citizens in case of draws.
The voting method is simple, if you want any of the proposed borehole locations 1 to 13, you just have to click the option. If you are against building a borehole, simply don't click the option. All proposed borehole locations that get more than 50% of the votes will be constructed as soon as other pressing matters are dealt with.
If you don't want to build any boreholes, be sure not to forget to click the option 'I do not want any boreholes' to make sure your 'No' vote for all options is counted when determining if 50% is reached.
For borehole options 14 to 16 the voting method is slightly different. For the other options it was easy to determine the most efficient construction plan: other alternatives were impossible due to slope problems or because they would destroy already existing terraformations while not allowing any more boreholes in the end. But here we could decide to build no boreholes of course, or to build one in 14 and 15, not destroying any existing terraformation, or to build two in 14 and 16, hereby destroying a forest. I'll leave it up to you. First indicate whether or not you want any boreholes there. If 51% or more of the people choose to build some there, the sub-option below with the most votes will be executed.

So far my explanation. The future landscape and industry of Jedinica Vrijstaat lies in your hands. Vote wisely.

Oh yeah, I'd like to mention the Jedinican army commander (you know his name ) has asked me to build a borehole on spot 12 under NO circumstance, as that would destroy the sensor array there and reduce our capability to scout ahead and defend ourselves against seaborne invasions.

we could station a crawler with deep radar just outside the base...i know it doesn't provide the defence bonus, but do you think we really risk an attack by land?

Do you mean for the eco-damage? I fully agree. If borehole constructions get passed, I'll build them first around the mineral-low bases, where they do the least damage.

... dunno what happened the end of my post has been deleted...

I meant that Boreholes will also dry out the tiles, while Panedmonium and Concorida are both very productive in nutrients. This would be madness to ruin this kind of production. Build them east coast if you'd like, but do not dry Planet.

yes condensors do, but from my experience, boreholes will rainify 1 or 2 of the surrounding squares. yes it would make sense if it was coastal ones since

Put an end to popups!

Boreholes increase/decrease rainyness depending on which side of the continent they're on. Boreholes in those locations should balance each other out.

Wouldn't that make one side rainier and one side dryer? That would not cancel out, it would create an imbalance between the East and the West of the continent.

Well you are always free to become one. I can imagine things are getting quite hot under your feet with the Hive knocking on your door. You have to run somewhere when the last University base gets overrun.

My presence in University territory is quite temporary and not for the purpose of residence... the situation degraded at a remarkably inoppurtune time; however, so things are somewhat hectic. I shouldn't even be able to reply to this right now

About the effect of boreholing on climate and nutrient production: If a square gets too dry, forest it. With a TF you'll get 2 nuts (supports its own worker), with a TF and a HF you'll get 3 (1 nut surplus). Forests don't care how dry it is ... if more nutrients are needed, farm/condensor any suitable squares for working/crawling. I prefer forests, as they are a lot more eco-friendly than farmland, and provide nice amounts of all resources with the appropriate infrastructure.

The effect is spread over the whole continent, not just that region.
