Well admittedly there is more than a little truth in that...
That being said, even with the new Constitution, I suspect that whoever plays the turn (Pres or VP) will continue to appreciate the opinions and suggestions of everyone, especially if the ministers aren't able to put in their orders between turns. More opinions is better than no opinions I think.
Already there have been many times where only a handful of the team have been able to respond between turns. |
I, too, believe that the Constitution is a bit too heavy, considering the current state of affairs and pace of the game... however, after almost two months of the game, I guess we know we are reasonable folks, getting along quite smoothly. So, prior to voting YEA, I re-read the draft focusing on whether it will be "legal" if we continue playing the way we do now. And yes, it will be perfectly legal. Basically, the clause about President/VP being free to play whatever he wants, unless given explicit orders, comes into effect... even if the Constitution does not state the President/VP shall respect non-binding opinions of the other team members, as long as he does, everybody is happy to be on this clause, I think... the only problem was/is that whoever plays turns must follow the forum very closely, to be aware of every idea, every proposal, every discussion. I do that, Jack cannot.
OTOH, there is at least one important thing defined by the Constitution that we need. The term lengths. Currently, we do not really know when to hold elections...
