Imran, I just re-read your comment, who were these upper class people who suffered from the prohibition laws? Joe Kennedy? Grandpa Bush (I can't remember his name right now)? These guys made their money bootlegging.

The lower middle and the middle middle class certainly do suffer from a lack of access to good lawyers.
Sorry, you're right, Prescott wasn't involved in bootlegging. I got that confused with his supposed tunneling of funds to the Nazis.
[1937
Prescott Bush's investment firm sets up deal for the Luftwaffe so it can obtain tetraethyl lead.
1942
Three firms with which Prescott Bush is associated are seized under the Trading with the Enemy Act.]
Anyway this drug war conversation is all well and good, but it detracts from the main reason for the thread. Why another Iraq war? Isn't simply to divert attention from the Bushes' and Cheney's involvement in another megabucks scandal. Maybe I'm crazy, but the whole thing stinks of misdirection.

There is no conflict with Iraq. It is a smoke screen, to divert our attentions from other matters, imo. North Korea is the real threat, but for some reason, maybe oil, we are not threatening an invasion to disarm them.
Look, I don't pretend to know what is going on here, but I keep seeing lots of red flags.
