I spent most of the evening stuffing envelopes for my girlfriend's research project. Tomorrow is her birthday, so I'll be mostly away from the computer that night. Bad timing it seems, especially since nothing is going on in the game right now.

I'll get in a turn when I get home and when I get back from dinner. Maybe one more after Ninot goes to bed.

btw, I'll try to get in a turn in the morning before I go to work, so get the save to me before 11am EST if you can.

This game is supposed to be an exercise in the tactics and relationships of the 4 nations on our continent, so it was set up "pangea" with just the four of us playing. However, last night I confirmed (spoiler alert!) ... that I'm on an island.

Yes. An island. In a Pangea game.

I can get by. I have about 3 decent city spots and I can clear the jungle to put up around 3-4 more. I don't mind playing an island game as I already have sight of the mainland and will be dropping by once I have mapmaking.

HOWEVER, my concern is that this game is not going to live up to our original concept. It will be a 3 on 3 game with my nation playing a wild card role. Our game is a 4 on 4 with 3 other wild cards. It also makes my rather weak Expansionist trait almost pointless in our game, unlike how ND used their Expansionist trait to get an early lead.

Frankly, I LIKE the political position this puts me in and I think this could be a very fun game for me. But I also think that Game #3 will be a fun game, and I wonder if we shouldn't restart this one so that we make it closer to our original purpose -- a game that tests the tactics and abilities of the four nations that started as neighbors on the same continent.

We could also try a Tiny map, as there are only 4 of us, and we want to try to simulate the size of our Contenent. If it's too big, then we can't simulate this as well as we'd like.

IMHO, since this is a game intended for helping us to test our main game (it's a 'job' game, not a funny game !!), I think you should restart, and verify you are indeed in a truly pangea map.

I can help you to verify this, seeing at your minimaps or at your saves

In case any of you were living under a rock and didn't watch the news this morning, there was an ENORMOUS internet-wide denial-of-service attack last night that went after SQL servers... I assume that's the reason why Togas and Ninot couldn't get to their Yahoo mail accounts and why I kept losing my connection from 'poly.

So THAT'S why we were having so much trouble

As for AoHell, I said it was even far slower than it NORMALLY is last night Now we know why

I finally got to my Yahoo account, it just took a painfully long time to do anything Yahoo related (including send & receive from my web space).

I'll be at home all afternoon today ... let's get that save moving around.
