2270 BC: Orders, Discussion, Results Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Bulgers -- N
Pamplona Warriors -- S (finish scouting, then get to work at stiffling GoW's expedition)
TEG -- move south of GoW's warrior

Some notes on future development orders:

Madrid needs to build a worker next, so once the spearman is ready, growth must again be emphasized.

Pamplona will build another spear and settler combo once these ones are done.

The worker near Pamplona will remain in Cow Valley building roads to link the coming cities, priority will be roading the horses.

The new worker near Madrid will link Madrid to Barcelona (road the game), and get the silk connected.

I set the queue for Madrid to Spearman, Worker, Spearman last turn.

E_T and my idea for Madrid was to perhaps do the following:

Finish spearman over next 2 turns (since we sped up production).

Then build a worker, pop goes down to 2.

Then build a BARRACKS while pop is rising back to 2-3.

After the barracks, build a settler/spearman combo (a veteran spear this time).

After that, it can continue with settler/vet spear combos or it can move to being more dedicated to veteran spears and veteran archers/warriors/swords.

However, it might be too early for this... depends.

But since the worker will knock the city down to 1 pop anyhow, it's going to take a while to get up to the 3 pop necessary to pop out the next settler... so I figure a barracks and then a veteran spearman isn't such a bad idea.

Let me know what you think.

Why is the worker so important now?

If we are gonna be expanding rapidly, we must use all pop-growths in Madrid for settlers. And only build the most neccesary defenses.

After consolidating our first border towards the other countries spheres of interest(mostly in the north and west I guess)
,we should emphasize more infrastructure and and start building a WONDER too!

But not yet... now we gotta T-REX .
(turbo rapid expansion)

We need to get connected up, plus we need to get the Luxuries going. We can have cities that are 2 larger with just the 1 Lux.

Also, do not for get that our workers take the longest to complete their taskings.

The roads are even more critically important for DEFENSE than they are for luxury and resource hook-ups (though they're important for that, since we need that iron brought to our capital ASAP).

Tired of ads?

We do need a barracks soon.... sounds like it might be a plan, but can we do a comparison on time of completion of doing it before or after the worker... might be to our benifit to do it before hand...just thinking out loud.

PlagueRat,

Now that you have returned, I can return to you control of TEG. Your mission is to thwart GoW exploration of our lands. You are to get in their way and slow their progress as much as possible. I may soon assign the Pamplona division to your command. If I do, you will be able to rename both of them to a more suitable guardian-like title.

Ok, fine Togas.
I will do my roleplaying part as (BabySitterGuard) BSG Officer Sanchez de Plãguátes, provided someone with the game installed do the turns. I work on different PCs, you see.
Just gonna be a plague and harass our foes... thats what i'm good at.

Sanchez, called "El Niño", is a very childish chief warrior and he hates to be messed around with by GoW-bastards...

He will harrass them by howling like a wolf outside the GoW camp at night and make rockslides around the mountains where they travel. And even kill them, on orders from the despot!

I must strongly disagree with this. As our empire grows and covers a greater portion of the lands that are destinated to be Spain some day, our vulnerability increases. We need an efficient road net to connect all our cities. This will serve for two purposes. First: The new cities, closer to the border, can be defended easier by the core, more developed cities. Second, it will reduce corruption. What's the point about having lots of cities if you can't defend them and they produce almost nothing?

Of course there are also lot of tasks to be done, like roading a path to luxuries and strategic resources. All this justifies more workers

When the spearman is complete in Madrid, please switch Madrid to a barracks (placeholder). This should occur during the turn AFTER this next one.

I've looked at the details and building the worker first only serves to shoot ourselves in the feet. Putting an improvement or more military units in between this spearman and that worker is definately the right move. It makes about 2-3 turns worth of difference in growth and production times, depending on how you tweak things after that decision.

The question is what Madrid should build in between... I'm going to start a poll/discussion thread for this, as I'm interested what people think (and that's a good way to get their attention). Ultimately, Togas and I will make the decision... I just want to see arguments in favor of each option.

This is why the barracks is placeholder.

Señor Oliver, form a certain point of view you are right.
And these task will be done in time. (even a tunnel through the mountain to pamplona perhaps? )

Ok, if we set in all our efforts on such infrastructure task now, and produce many workers for it, this will of course take less time and corruption be reduced. ok, thats nice but...

Meanwhile:
Someone elses, landhungry tribe, settles in the areas that we were planning to. And they might even get a foothold on the Westcoast or the unexplored area North of Madrid. (where we suspect there to be a lake)

So its a matter of prioritizing strategies...

Of course, I'm not talking about producing MANY workers or seting ALL our efforts in that. I'm just saying that we must find a compromise between the two extreme options. And this of course is not having a single worker. The Spanish empire needs more than that.

Settling undefended and unconected cities is completely unuseful. They would be an easy target for our enemy nations. Yes, I consider all of them enemies. We shall try to be in good relations with all of them, but never trust in a word pronounced by a non spaniard. We must be prepared for the worst. If we found weak unconected and unprotected cities near their borders they will steal them from us. I have no doubt about that. We need roads for our army to protect all the spanish citizens! Without roads they will arrive just in time to pick the pieces of what's left!

We need at least two more workers!

I totally agree with that pikesfan.

Let us not be afraid to settle in the north either.
And let us build only the most neccessary defences now.
