	Can we have url mapping for the forums? (possibly loadsaving :)) Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Not sure if it's called url mapping though.
The idea is that you can acces each forum through a simple url, one that can be remembered.
The current url for a forum is something like this:
http://apolyton.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=31
Where each forum has it's own number. This construction makes it hard to go directly to the Other Games forum, i have to go to apolyton.net/forums first, and the click the OG forum link.
What i'm proposing is that when i type, for example, "apolyton.net/forums/og" i go the to Other Games forum,
or ".../ot" for the offtopic, and ".../c3g" for the civ3 general forum.

Do i make any sense here?

How about the little Forum Jump drop-down menu on the bottom of each page? I think it is there exactly for the purpose of you not having to go back to the front page to change a forum.

I, personally, don't use it, however. I just subscribed to all the forums I visit, and going to them is as simple as a click from the control panel.

The forum jump has too many forums in it, takes to long to search for the right forum
And that still only works if you're already at apolyton.

You haven't spent enough time memorizing the positions of all the forums.

Why not just create bookmarks of your favourite forums? You can access them from your browser no matter what site your are currently viewing.

Or store the bookmarks on your Desktop - then you don't even need your browser open at the time.

You can even get the bookmarks to appear as buttons on your browser's UI - that's what I've done.

There are many options.

And if you use a browser that allows tabs (basically any non-IE browser at this point) you can store each page together in one bookmark entry and open them all at the same time. Works great!

I use Opera......and usually leave a window on whatever forum I visted last.....then use the dropdown bar to change. But with dsl you don't spend ages trying to work out the route of least resistance.

It would be easy to simply create you own webpage for accessing 'poly when you are at school.
Register with angelfire/geocities or similar for a free website and just create one page which is simply a list of links to your favourite 'poly forums.

This way you'd only have to memorise the URL of your own webpage and then click on the links to access the forums.

I'll even do it for you if you want, although I'm sure you are quite capable.
