I had two Iraqi teachers when I was in the Army. One of them was a little old man. He wasn't a very good teacher, but he was very sweet and we all loved him. One day I walked into his office, and he was watching the news, and he was crying. I asked him once what country he considered to be his country-- America or Iraq. He said, "I don't have a country." I never knew the details of his life, like I did most of my teachers, because he didn't talk very much. I wish I knew what was going on in his head more of the time. He told a lot of jokes that no one understood. Mostly that was because he mumbled a lot. When I did understand him, he was very funny. He was such a sweet old man...
