Given that, regent makes sense. It keeps about the right gamepace.

I agree , first all the humans can gang up on em and lick em, and then when that war is over we can all get mad at each other because they stold the city we were gona have or took the resources we reserved!

I say regent. The only reason I say that level is because of the confusion and problems involved with the Team game. It was voted on and extensively discussed. We ended up with Monarch. We are only playing on Regent because of some type of default setting issue. It changed sometime during the first turn of play. If we start on Regent, we won't need to worry about getting a different setting.

It doesn't really matter. There will not be any AI if most people have sense (they would skew it by giving some civs punching bags while others have none).

Regent would be good.

It matters for the amount of citizens that is born content. This is 2 both on Regent and Monarch level, by the way.

I've heard that there may be a bug in PTW PBEM games where it's always Regent.

He has heard that there may be a bug in PTW PBEM games that causes all PBEM games to convert to Regent.

Yes; with this bug apprently only in the 1.14? PTW patch.

I say Regent unless there is AI, then Emperor. On a large or huge map, we can have 4-8 AI with 8 human civs.

I chose Monarch. I would chose regent, but there is no sence on forcing evryone to worry about the 2nd citizen being unhappy. There wont be any AI IIRC, so that isn't a factor. Regent is OK too. But I dont want anything higher than that, especially if we either play raging barbs or random, I dont don't the focus of the early game to be trying protect ourselves from stronger than average barbs. I'm ok with barbs, even raging hoards, but not in combo with highest difficulties.

Just a brief comment on what I noticed earlier in this thread. The Apolyton PtWDG game is NOT on Regent. It's is on Warlord at most, but most probably on Chieftain. I know it for sure, as I have tried leaving three ungarrisoned citizens in our city and they remained content (no happiness boosters present).

MWIA - the game parameters are pretty well set - I would concentrate on civ choice - the thread - not the poll-it also has the agreed to game parameters as one of the last posts.
