That's RAD, and I have no idea why it didn't get as much press as the fact that Libya's now got chairmanship of the UN comission on Human Rights.

Both of them make me a very happy camper.

When is it Iran's turn to head the committee?

Edit: Or have they already done so?

They are next. The order probably using the native speeling of Irak, before Iran, rather than English Iraq, after Iran.

They are co-chairs according to the article. 2 for 1 deal..

Say rather a more native spelling in the roman alpabet. If you are going to alphabetize, you need to use one alhabet, transliterating as best as possible.
Does the Arabic script coreespond letter for letter to the roman alphabet? or to the Cryllic? or have a different order or letters of its own?

Not even close, arabic have three h's, a rolled g thingie that I can't pronounce no matter how hard I try, and a couple consonants (like d, s and t) that can be said in a wierd front of the mouth manner that have a different meaning than normal letters (are written as letters with dots under them in transliterations) and that's just some of the fun

Apparently they use English speeling for the rotation. This from another article:

"India now holds it and will be followed by Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland and Israel as countries take the job in alphabetical order"
