If GW and our PM said they were dead wrong to support Saddam in the past, and shouldn't have given him the weapons and that they won't help dictators in the future and that Iraq will be a democracy when its all over then the I would have thought the UK people would be far more likley to support a war.

As to the speach GW come across badly to a Britsih audience( Clinto was just so much better at this sought of thing) so they won't be too impressed. Then again it was a speach to the US congress so why would he be bothered

The trouble with Mr Bush's speech is what sounds good to Americans, doesn't sound good to people in other English speaking countries. That is because our politicians don't talk in the high and flowery way US presidents do. We like our policiticians to be more plain speaking and factual and not to talk down to us like they were talking the little children. We pay them lots of money to serve us and we expect to be humble and to give us straight answers.

The question about any war is "Who benefits?" If you are not in the group that will do well out of it, and I'm not one of them, neither are most of the population of the UK, then why support a war.

Is it just my TV set or are GWB's eyes too close together - My mother told me not to trust people whose eyes are too close together.

Opinion polls show teh majority of the UK don't a war without US backing and that they think one of the major reasons for it is oil.

IF politicians confronted the oil issue more the perception would change.

agreements made when we left Iraq 10 years ago.
We havn't see it, We didn't see it when this started.
We sent troops to Afgan. on the basis of evidence.

Hi There, I think the Good People of America are a great example to the World. I applaud your great country in it's bravery against Terrorism. Glad England can help.
As for the Oil, we should divide it up between ourselfes, say 80% for your lot, and 20% for us - Screw the rest of the cowardly world.
