a camel and a scorpion were sitting on the bank
of the river jordan. the scorpion asked the camel,
"would you carry me across the river please?"
to which the camel replied, "how could i trust you?
you will sting me." the scorpion answered,
"if i were to sting you, you would die, and i would
then drown. you can trust me." the camel
agreed, and let the scorpion climb onto his back.
he then waded out into the river. in the middle of
the river, the camel felt the scorpion sting him.
indignantly (and with much chagrin) he turned and
asked the scorpion, "why did you do that? now
we will both drown." to which the scorpion glibly
answered, "what did you expect? it's the middle east, baby."
