A change would be only justified, if we wouldn't start the GL project. I hope that is it what you had in mind, when you wrote your comment.

The turn is here. Since all is described well, I play it without further discussion. The Voxian worker finished to read the jungle and went 1 south. Bolderberg is founded. No barbarian sighted.

Team Scores:

78 (+2) Gathering Storm
88 (+1) Demogyptica
71 (+0) Glory of War
85 (+1) Role Play
67 (+1) Vox Controli
67 (+1) Lux Invicta
95 (+2) Legoland

At one point, we were contemplating a warrior in Bolderberg before it starts its barracks sp Slash could go back up north, but that was before the diplomatic situation with Vox improved so much.

Come to think of it, though, we probably want Slash back a little farther north where he can watch for barbarians that could threaten either Bolderberg or the new settler headed toward the gold hill. I'm guessing 8-8-9 from where he is now would let him see and intercept any threat to Bolderberg, in which case he could protect both cities.

I noticed we're first in all three key economic stats - GNP, Mfg. Goods, and Productivity - at least for the moment. Fantastic! And the projection for time to Writing is now a turn sooner.

And we're second in land, which most likely means we're first to settle our fourth city (others will follow soon)

Question: do we want to use barbs as training camps, or do we want to avoid barbs from appearing?

moving Slash, and the warrior in Cyclone depends on this: I would definately move Cyclone's warrior to protect the worker, in case barb horsies would appear. But if we move him a bit farther, our South will be barb-free, without risks...

At this point, we can only hope for more barbarians showing up. Barbarians equal gold and training.
Besides, I don't think that barbarian horsemen can appear this early in the game. According to my theory, their appearance depends on whether all civs have already researched horseback riding or something, since hunter-gatherer societies can't be more technologically advanced than farming societies.

Btw, thanks for the domestic advisor screen Sir Ralph!

I know it's not all civs. I think I may have heard two civs with Horseback Riding, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, I said that on this board before, but 2 civs with HBR is speculation... but it does look a lot like 2 civs in the next age for barb rushes.

Put an end to popups!

We know from Soren himself that it's 2 civs entering an age for barb uprisings, but I don't recall seeing anything authoritative regarding what has to happen before barb horsemen and galleys can show up.

Well, if I understand correctly, at least we know for sure that we won't be facing any threats from barbarian horsemen anytime soon. Therefore, no point in preparing for such threats at the moment.

We already know Lux has The Wheel, and GoW starts with Warrior Code and almost certainly has The Wheel by now given that Lux has it. That means GoW could get Horseback Riding just about any time if it's a priority for them (and that's not at all hard to envision for a militaristic bunch playing China). What if they then trade it around?
