I was just thinking about that other animal handler that last year had her arm shredded by a lion, I believe at a zoo.

I feel bad for her. While it wasn't the brightest thing to do, the people at the zoo are responsible. If they told her it was perfectly ok to stick her arm in there, she probably assumed it was extremely well-trained. Now she's lost her arm.

I agree with Boris on this one. It was part of a tourist show, and as such it is probably required from the public to put the hand in the Lion's mouth every time it performs.
She was invited by perfectly serious people, who didn't imagine there would be an accident.

The Guardian is reporting that there wasn't a show and that she must have stuck her hand in the cage herself, to pet the lion...admittedly this is from the manager of the zoo.

As far as it being part of a show, not just some stupid prank gone awry, filing a lawsuit or other legal action needs to be taken to put an end to an insanely bad idea. I agree with Alexnm's point on "Inductive Reasonings."

While undeniably a stupid thing to do, I'm with those who also feel sorry for the woman. She was apparently egged on by the organizers of the show and maybe the crowd also, and I can't help feeling that a considerable part of the people I know would have done the same...

I hate frivolous lawsuits as much as anyone else, but this could be a case where she was supposed to be part of an 'act' and something went wrong. Why should she have to pay? She didn't sign a waiver, did she?
