1990 BC: Orders, Discussion, Results Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

The turn-around time for creating the next turn thread needs to happen a bit quicker. The last one went up only hours before the turn was done. As a result, orders for micromanaging the WFs for Pamplona were missed and the city will grow one turn later than it could have.

....so post 'em if you got 'em

I think that if some official has order that he wants to be done he should start the thread if no one has done it before

By the way, I'm sure that Davout will be happy with Pamplona growing a turn later to keep on his "low profile" strategy

Absolutely.

While anyone can start the turn threads, the city governors, slave master, and unit commanders have a responsibility to do so if once they have determined their orders for that turn.

We started the turn orders thread practice long ago because it was too much nuisance go to multiple threads for orders. At the time it was just an Explorer's thread and the Slaver Master's thread, but now it would be multiple city plan threads as well.

Orders for Saragossa Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

-Use Settler to Build Saragossa.
-Fortify the Spearman
-Work the Game
-Start Barracks

I will provide a detailed plan in the days ahead.

Señor Tamali, I look forward to your magic planning tool (spreadsheet).

Slave Master, I would very much appreciate an estimated completion date on connecting Saragossa to Madrid (via Pamplona).

Señor Dejon, unfortunately with just one slave group to do the work and the other two busy in the zone between Madrid and Barcelona, Zaragoza will be conected to Madrid no sooner than 1215BC. Just the tunnel under the mountains cost 225 years (9 turns) to build! However, if Pamplona or Zaragoza pop a fourth slave unit, the time would be reduced considerably.

I demand protection !!

2 or 3 Workers will be soon working in the area between Madrid and Barcelona. And we know that barbarians units can arise in any moment at the South West of Barcelona or even at the North of Madrid.

With only a warrior defending Barcelona, and the spearmans from Madrid affected to other great missions, it could be very difficult to defend our workers without additional military units.

I demand the Magyar warrior to stay in this area until all barbarian threats were definitely out !

Whose side are you on?

Just for that, I want to have the WFs in Pamplona switched from the #6 forest tile to the #2 shielded grassland. It makes no difference now, but an 80% net yield after corruption looks better than 66%.

I must support Astronicus demands. It takes lot of time to train the slaves, and its equipment is very expensive. It would a big lost if one of these expensive units of slaves was atracked and destroyed by this damn barbarians.

If the Temple is completed this turn and pop rises to 3 as I suspect, then here is the new WF and queue for Madrid:

New WF: #3 (cows), #5 (game), #20 (wheat) - 5 shields, 4 food, 7 trade

New Queue: Worker, Spearman

The worker should only take 2 turns, then I'll have a new WF (because pop will drop back to 2 when the worker is done).

Full PM-box? Change here!

Lord Togas,

Since we will have Writing now and so we know, could you please check how much embassies with our neighbors will cost?

And, also, could you take a look at the F7 screen to see if anyone is building a Wonder yet? Thank you.

This is not the first time this has been asked. I have never really used that screen, but my impression was that it shows you completed wonders, not those under construction - can someone correct me or confirm this?

[OOC]

Dejon,
In standard Civ III, I'm nearly positive that it shows wonders in progress -- I never played it that much, but I do remember seeing several Wonders labeled 'in progress' for various nations. I don't know if there's something special, like a need for an embassy or something, but I THINK it's probably that any wonder in progress shows up there.

We can check it in our internal #3 game. As Egypt I can build the Pyramids since the start of the game. I can play a false turn in which I change Thebes to build the Pyramids and then send to Arnelos for him to check if the F7 screen shows that.

Only 19 turns to literature? Wow! our science production is big!

Saragossa is a marvellous little village already. I've just come back on my way home from Neu Demogyptica. Preferable to Barcelona, in fact. Despite the squid. Freshwater squid aren't as good. That's the only detrimental effect in Saragossa. However, the horses are fairly nice, and the deer is really splendid. Have some venison...

As it is, now that we have Writing, we must make sure that Neu Demogyptica still wants to trade us for Mathematics, which I am fairly sure is their aim. I would also suggest building an embassy in Neu Theban before they build an embassy in Madrid, simply so we can see if the rumors of nearing Lux Invictans are accurate.

Should we not spell it Zaragoza, as oliver_fa suggested once? Anyway, Zaragoza looks more impressive and frightening, especially as it will be right on the border. Saragossa sounds like a sleepy little village that will always be sleepy and so easy for the Chinese to conquer with just Basher Jr. Speaking of whom, what is it going to take for Basher Jr. going to move from that mountain we want to build the tunnel through? Do I have to throw an axe myself from the Magyar Warriors?

I must confess. I Manuel de Leon, professional interepeter of other peoples dreams, do hereby announce that I have been bothered by a night time visitor. And as it is well known amongst sorcerers, wizards, and other masters of the mental forces, such visitations cannot be properly be interepeted by the dreamer.

It begins simply enough. The panorama of the fruited plain that is to be the very core of Iberia expands across my sub conscious mind.

And then a mysterious face slowly forms out of the mists, slowly turns to me and says, "I am El Syd. You do not know of me, but if you are true to the gifts granted unto Iberia during the act of creation, the spawn of Iberia's spawn shall thank me in their time."

That face. It comes to me each night. Each night it is larger than before, and bears a more serious look. I feel that I should know that face, but I do not. The most destinctive feature of that face is a deep indentation in the very center of an oversize chin. Like a charicature. When it speaks, the lips do not move and the words come directly out of that chin.

And every night, the dream and that ever present chin speak furthur of the destiny of Iberia. In the second coming, or dreaming, the chin floats to the silk resource next to Barcelona and says "To whom much is given, much is expected. Why do your gifts go unused?"

Over the next several nights, El Syd continues past the silk and onwards towards the spices in the south east. The chin twitches in silence, then continues towards the Ivory so far away. And again the chin twitches, and glides westward to the diamond tiles on the left coast and says "This too and all of these are granted but only to those who are bold enough to manage them for my cause."

Last night, as the chin is want to do, added another sweep across our lands. This time over the jungles to the north. El Syd said "This may seem a curse today, but my future is here. Secure it or I will be in someone else's dreams"

And so, I report here today these dreams so that they may be properly interepeted.

Manuel de Leon

The number of screenshots to take is getting bigger. If it wasn't because of that damn bug that adds more production when you reload the save could be sent to another person (maybe the scribe, or the intelligence office hed) to take all that screenshots and this person could be change from time to time just to not bother him too much.

El Syd, eh? Yes...yes...I have seen him too! In my dreams...he is usually seen alongside the words...'Science Advisor'...he wears a white coat, silly glasses...he is balding, and rotund, and he has a goofy little smile on his face...this is El Syd, is he? I have often pondered the significance of that dream...
