	SMACx factions Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

A query to you SMACx vets. Perhaps there's no answer but here goes:

Of the new factions - which one is the closest to the original University?

BTW - I find the paradigm for the University faction in SMAC to be laughable. One of the big problems in the old Soviet Union was the lack of crosstalk between research centers. So I would have made it LESS vulnerable to infiltration rather than more so.

I think the story line is Aki is one of Zak's unethical experiments....so prolly the CC.

The observation is accurate, but a +probe with the already tech happy Zak would have really lopsided the game. I'm assuming game developers\testers realized this and adjusted accordingly. Maybe less testing of smacx is the reason for the opinions that some smacx factions are to powerful.

The Data Angels have free datalinks ability, but are actually the exact opposite of the University as far as probe teams are concerned.

The Cyborgs are the only new faction that even compares to the University. They're the only ones with any research bonus. They have +2 efficiency, +2 research, steal tech when capturing a base, and their only negative is -1 growth.

They start off with Info Networks + Applied Physics, instead of Info Networks + whatever you want, but that's kinda cool because it helps you do an early tech-steal raid.

The lack of a free network node (and also lack of the extra drones) makes you not feel so much like you have to kill yourself to get the Virtual World, so you can worry more about getting WP and a good start...
