Renewing NDE contact? Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

I was wondering when is the last time we have contaced NDE. I haven't seen anything posted about any conversation with them for a while. We do need to at least keep some kind of diolougue with them, like with the other civs with have met.

We're supposed to get Math for Myst from GoW. They specifically asked for this the last time I got a message.

But...otherwise... a VERY good idea to renew relations with ND. Trip - will you take care of this ?

As BFM and I just worked out, BFM is going to re-initiate contact with NDE. I don't see any purpose in it at this point though... trade is very unlikely, and we're both gearing up for war.

Theres good reason , in my mind, for making contact with NDE,
1. War with them dosen't give us much, whereas peaceful trading with them gives us much more, just peace in general lets us continue expanding and settling without problems.
Civ3 MP wars don't give technology or easily conquered lands unlike in civ2, unless your peace treaty afterwards gives you something for the settlement (a bit unlikely).
Alliances don't seem to be that great a use .. apart from hopefully killing some of the other civs troops and making our civ stronger possibly.

2.NDE have iron, and deadly swordsmen probably, and they seem to have a big country with a powerful army (according to the millitary advisor screens I believe). GoW have said NDE's armies bigger than theirs also.
We need to find out if they have horsemen, but we should assume they do unless we get evidence to the contrary.
Therefore we should wait and try and stop war, till our forces are much stronger.

Makihg some contact with NDE may delay war, which will help us in the long run.

War might be fun though.. so lets do it, but only when we're certain we can win without much assistance from 'allies'

If we get into war with NDE, it would be nice to make it quite a short war at first, and try and get some tech from them afterwards as a peace settlement. If we can cripple their civ so its much weaker than ours (maybe make them a vassal, a servant of the glorious LI empire against our enemies).

Destroying NDE would be less useful than keeping them around for target practise and to be a thorn in the side of the other civs on the continent(especially GoW who seem too warlike)
