A useful reminder about GoW... Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

GhengisFarb topped his old GoW thread in the main forum and it provides us a useful reminder...

The Glory of War memberlist:

1. Donegeal
2. UnOrthOdOx
3. Jdd2007
4. GhengisFarb
5. Aro
6. UberKruX

10. Ennet
11. Aggie
12. Galvetron
13. Hot_Enamel
14. Realpolitic
15. Duddha

No greater concentration of xenophobes, genocidal maniacs, anarchists, and general malcontents has yet been found! The fact that all of them are together in ONE FORUM and the explicit purpose of their team being war, any chance that they're thinking peace and friendship with ANYONE should be discarded now...

I think Duddha, the guy known to run around the Civ3DG saying "let's eat their babies!", put it best:

Let there be no doubt...

Glory of War will not abide to simply sit around waiting for a chance for war to come... they will make one and immediately seize upon it.

The only reasonable thing to do is to ensure that Glory of War is vanquished before they get the chance to turn even one of their neighbors away from being committed to their destruction.

Who said your Civ playstyle is not influenced by your political views?
In fact the off-topic forum, especially the political threads, is a great source of information on our opponents

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

As many of you have suspected, I was heavily recruited by GoW before finally deciding to go with RP. I believe that this gives me special insight into their character.

Let me start out by saying that what Arnelos said about the team is absolutely spot on with regards to GF, and most likely the overall team.

However....

Many of GoW's participants are significantly more complex than GF and are therefore far more dangerous.

This is perfectly true... almost.

I don't believe they would perform so well in battle right now.
We should not be too concerned about their militaristic attitude, yet. I think they are more like evil plotters these days.
Currently, that's their most dangerous weapon... nasty plots!

(I don't know how these plots really look like, but we have caught them do suspicios stuff earlier. )

They can ruin relations between other teams,
and destroy our plans that way.

Real punishment is to use the sin against the sinner. As we make them more middle-of-the-road, they drive us to extremes. Look what we will have become... and smile

Fully agree with that, roadcage.

Togas and I were discussing earlier how much we both are saddened (becuase it would make relations a lot easier...) and encouraged (because GF being in charges makes things difficult FOR GoW!) by the fact that someone more level-headed like Aggie or another is not in charge over there.

They do have a number of rather competent people, but it seems that GhengisFarb is the one calling the shots... and, therefore, their own interests occassionally go down the toilet in favor of GhengisFarb's lust for bravado I can deal with negotiating with a potential adversary that at least looks out for his OWN interests... dealing with one who seems to have little regard for them is significantly more frustrating.

Sounds like...Clemente the Elder speaking!!

Of course they are all anarchists. Sick, twisted, bloodthirsty, repulsive, insane, manaical, revolting, monstrous, evil, malevolent, malcontented, twisted, sick, twisted, insane, twisted...pecksniffs!

To put it mildly, of course...

Anyhow, I fully agree that we must destroy them. I highly suggest, as do the Neu Demogypticans, in fact, that we form a triumvirate of powers, with Lux Invicta included, and squash them at the earliest opportunity, preferably before Chivalry.

Of course, there is a downside.

I really do believe that the only thing keeping the Lux Invictans, or even the Neu Demogypticans, from being warmongers themselves is the fear of the Warmongers. They are a considerable threat in their own way, and they are feared rightly. However, in this sense, it may not be the best efforts to destroy them totally for now. Remember that it is perhaps the only thing that would keep the peace between Neu Demogyptica and Lux Invicta...and us.

I suspect that the level headed players of the team arent making a big role because they dont have the huge mouth or Ego of GF.

I wonder what Uber is doing tho. SMC?

Really? Then I might humbly suggest that they may in fact, be playing their role. As a team of barbarian warmongers their diplomacy and actions are entirely in character for them.

Which makes it no less incredibly stupid for actually keeping any semblance of good relations with any of the other teams... good relations they may need to save their sorry hind quarters when they get themselves into a war with one of their neighbors and can't rely on their other neighbor not to stab them in the back...

What they're doing now is effectively ENCOURAGING all of us on the continent to stab them in the back at the first available opportunity... given the risk they already had of a coalition against them from the moment they formed their team, exacerbating the reasons for that problem is exactly the opposite of what they should be doing...

I think a conquest strategy has potential in a PTW inter-team game like this one, but not the half-assed way they're doing it... I honestly expected more from these guys...

Got spare money?

It's their way of lulling us too sleep. It's part of their plan, you see. If they bluster and blow alot, to where we just get too annoyed with them, then the plan is, that well just ignore them and forget that they are there. THEN, when the time is right, they will strike.....

Put an end to popups!

It was a different kind of clapping I was referring to, but this might be just as good a retaliation.

The Seamstress' Guild as they like to call themselves are currently hosting guests at their Guildhouses. It's the big pink one right next to the governors house. (in all spanish cities this seems to be the case for some reason...)

When I found this thread (and many others), I actually had the feeling that "damn it, I should have known better... these guys are too stupid to do what's in their own interests... so yeah, they'll attack us."

So yeah... bumping this thread is an "I told you so" to myself
