Sometimes stammering works wonders.
Me: "Um, *cough*, ah, your bra strap is showing."
SO (not my SO then): "Really? Which side?"
Me (points)
SO (does some quick fixing): "Thanks. How long have you noticed it."
Me (turns red): "Hm, ah, ur, eh, um...."
SO (smiles): "That's okay, don't blow your brains" (snuggles up to me) "I like honesty."

I made this same conversion at that age, and it was tight. We were friends, we went out for a bit, and then we went back to being friends. Things were a little tense since I ditched her at the homecoming dance, but we all got over that stoned mishap. |
Same thing happened to me, back in Sept. We met at church, eventually developed a friendship, and then through subtle hints found out she liked me. Fortunately, the feeling was mutual. We went out for 3 months, but we were both too busy to actually keep it feasable, and she called it off. Now we're back to friends.

Are 10% of all relationships due to force of personality as opposed to 90 % due to more prudential and shallow concerns such as looks and money? I'd find that hard to believe

Exactly.
Plus it is an epitome to idiocy to believe that every man or woman has the same % in what constitutes the most important aspect for him/her.
Drake needs to get out more and stop getting all his information about relationships from net sites.

yeah, well, while this is not exactly the case, one certainly must take the bets on the daring side.
Btw, it's not like I can't get a g/f, I simply don't want one. sex? what are hands for, damnit?

one would have thought that she'd be to goddamn embarrassed to say anything by herself.
All in all, I think the moral of this thread, like many other apolyton-women-tips thread is: " You've gotta have balls if you want to ****."

Very good friend to girlfriend conversion is very tricky, and you have to realise that you confessing your feelnigs towards her will change your relationship with her whatever happens afterwards. Things will never be as they are now. So if you don't want to lose what you now have, I'd think long and hard about actually going ahead with this plan.
You could however try and sound her friends out as to her feelings for you (that is if you can trust them not to blab it straight to her). That way you can find out if it's worth risking.

Paiktis, I'm not sure if you read that whole Ladder Theory thread or not, but I read it quite differently to you. I just took it to be an entertaining attempt to model the common themes in the dating game, assuming one's only goal was to get laid. Basically, just an amusing read.
My own goals with women are quite different to this and I agree that the act of classifying people is offensive, as it ignores the most important things about each person, which are unique.
But if you can set that all aside, the theory captures much of the subtext of the dating game, as I remember it. (Admittedly, I would never claim to understand female motivations, so I lack the knowledge and experience to judge.)

I made it all up. Apologies to switch, but the concept amused me.

It can't be done. The simple fact that you are her friend means that she is no longer attracted to you.

I think she just wasnt attracted to me anymore, tho i dunno how you can be attracted to someone, and then seemingly abruptly, not.

OK.
I dated very few girls and I had a crush on a very close friend, which discouraged me for a long time from pursuing anything else. I felt she wasn't all that attracted to me (certainly more attracted to at least one other). Eventually (after 4 years of this), I figured that I had to make sure she wasn't interested before I could get on with finding another gf, so I invited her out regularly and tried to turn it into something much more.
The process took a long time, but we were both pretty shy about sex, so hastiness probably wouldn't have helped. Also, she pretty much "never thought of me like that" for the first 4 years before we started going out. In fact, she used to invite me to parties if she had noone else to take along and it used to break my heart.
Now we've been married almost 10 years. My love for has basically never waned. Although I'm still more attracted to her than she seems to be to me, I really don't think it is a problem, as we each have such different ways of loving the other anyway.
