Israel is filled with rumours saying that the attack will start on Saturday night, local time. The IAF began emergency mobilization of the AA Corps.

Eli, well could be.. I think they need to start the offensive soon, because it's going to be hot summer soon. |
doesn't matter if hot summer or hotter summer.
the US/UK-missiles will shatter every building, the US/UK-nerve gas will make every soldier panic and the US/UK-tanks will cut through the iraqi defences like a hot knife through soft butter.
the yanks will lose just a few hundred mainly coloured soldiers (aka cannonfodder) and maybe a few more hundred when entering baghdad.
the real problem: the islamists will hate the zionist controlled (as they say) americans even more and will also get support by the moderate muslims. more money will go to the palestinian suicide bombers and more will blow themselves up. that leads to even more repression by the IDF which provokes even more hate... more kills, more repression, more hate, more kills, more repression... and so on. it's a vicious cycle that cannot end.
the ONLY solution: the sensible and real peace-wanters (falks) should take over the power and should show understanding to the oppressed. give them money, a hand, food, jobs... mainly: a future. not all of them will comply, some idiots will never stop. but at least the majority might be able to live in peace.
ethnic problems can only be solved like illnesses: get to the ROOT of the problem (poverty, suppression, radicalism) and don't just fight the symptoms...

Last report I saw was 71% of Americans are ready NOW.
Let me kind of issue a response to Sava, and maybe some others, about how I "want to send the youth to be killed".
That's unfair, and untrue.
I wish none of the military had to deal with Iraq in the coming days.
By all rights, this should have been a done deal years ago.
The military would be involved elsewhere, probably; but we wouldn't be having this particular discussion today.
So, 71% of America wants to go thump the Hussein family's head.
Yes, I'm one of them, and I offer my thanks to those of the military that will go take care of me and mine.
I'm too old, or I'd carry my load, again.
71% of America agree, and I'm sure support of the troops will be near 100%.
Consider yourself fortunate.
Knowing you have the backing of your countrymen should help sustain you in times of hardship.
Know this, too.
It's the waiting that's always going to be the worst.
While actually doing, whatever you may be required to do, you'll be too busy with the moment to be stressed.
The afterwards is even worse than the present, but the waiting is by far the worst.
So again, thanks. I wish it weren't this way, but it is.

I have read this entire thread thoroughly and came to the several conclusions: the first one being that the U.S if it desires other nations to respect the legitimate athourity of the UN ought itself yield to its authority;case else the U.N is not a legitimate authority.Secoundly that by definition a republican party historically conserves the constitution and serves the best interest of the people but the present American leadership like McCarthy has utilized fear within in the ranks of the masses to trash it( the constitution) and serve merchant interest(not the people) thus they are not Republicans but Neo-McCarthist or something and lastly they are in denial they (US leadership) believe that if OBL and Hussien are eliminated everytghing will be resolved such as the case would be if "anti-Amercanism" which is actually anti-mercantilism were localized with in the mid east but it is not it is in fact wide spreadas well as chronic.lThis has happenned before with Kadaffi with Egypt and with sultinates through out history so what are we advocating other than a ingenuine resolution at the expense of occuppying the Persian States till they are depleted even if it takes a thousand years just to prove we are nt going to tolerate their protracted resistance.WTF |
I don't know what the world view of UN authority is but I am certain that Americans have never even considered the idea that the UN has any authority over the US. You would have to kill 200 million Americans before the US yielded to outside authority.
The purpose of the war with Iraq is to establish that nations cannot sponsor terrorism without facing direct confrontation with the US military. It's about establishing a deterrant. Now Bush can't come out and say that of course.
Saddam, in addition to his many other sins, sponsors terror by providing rewards for the families of Palestinian suicide bombers. That, and the 9/11 attacks is really all that was needed to convince the Bush administration to remove Saddam. The rest of the talk is just window dressing.

According to the Israeli Channel one, Syria, Lebanon and the Hezbollah signed a secret agreement not to attack Israel during the war with Iraq in order to avoid an Israeli retaliation.
