I would vote for random civs. Seems the fairest method, as far as I can see.

quantum_mechani: wellcome! Please post your playing hours, too, so we can set up the playing order in a most efficient way.

Kloreep, like I said, random civs but only from those 7 involved for the PtW demogame, namely Egypt, Arabia, China, Spain, Persia, Ottomans and Chartage. At least this was my original idea. Is that OK ?

Of course if people want to choose based on preferences from other civs, too, we can change it.
Sharpe, did you mean you want to choose based on preferences from all of the civs or only from these 7?

Tiberius,

Unless we were planning to map the potential strategies by the other teams in the PTW Demo Game (not that would really work very well LOL), I don't think that we should necessarily be limited to the civs in the Demo game.

For instance, I enjoy playing as Babylon or the Greeks as well as Ottomans and Persians.

I will be available between 3 and 6, but if that dosn't fit with the schedule then I could squeeze in time from 17 to 19 (all GMT).

OK Sharpe, so be it. Then please everybody who has a preferred civ say it. If more people would like to choose the same civ, we will decide randomly between them.

For me: random civ. or not I'll choose one from those left after you guys will have made your choices

We're going to have some problems with the playing hours. So far, the most probable order would be:

1. Sharpe
playing hours: 00:00 - 04:00 GMT

2. lmtoops
playing time: 00:00 - 05:00 GMT.

3. quantum_mechani
playing hours: 03:00 - 06:00 GMT

4. redstar1
playing hours: 9:00 - 22:00 GMT.

5. Tiberius
playing hours: 17:00 - 22:00 GMT

6. Kloreep
playing hours: 19:00 - 05:00 GMT.

7. ZargonX
playing hours: 20:00 - 07:00 GMT

The problem is, Sharpe and lmtoops, respectively ZargonX and Kloreep are very close to each other and we may miss whole days without playing, only because of bad schedule. Maybe we should split the whole thing in 2 (days), something like this:

First day:

1. Sharpe
playing hours: 00:00 - 04:00 GMT

2. quantum_mechani
playing hours: 03:00 - 06:00 GMT

3. redstar1
playing hours: 9:00 - 22:00 GMT.

4. Kloreep
playing hours: 19:00 - 05:00 GMT.

Second day:

5. lmtoops
playing time: 00:00 - 05:00 GMT

6. Tiberius
playing hours: 17:00 - 22:00 GMT

7. ZargonX
playing hours: 20:00 - 07:00 GMT

If you have a better idea how to do it ...

Tiberius...My green hours are correct, but I'll try to squeeze in a turn whenever. I check in the morning before I leave and sometimes I come home from lunch and will play.

Of course, my availability on weekends is limited. I do not get on the internet on Friday evening and all of Saturday. I'm back at about 3 GMT on Sunday. This is an agreement with my wife and children that works very well.

So probably with my weekend schedule, the split schedule works better. At least there is a 50% chance that I won't hold up the game on the weekends. Oh well, there is always something no matter how well you plan.

We're waiting for the civ preferences of lmtoops, after which I'm going to choose a civ too and then we can start the game (finally!).

So, lmtoops, which civ do you want to play with?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

As of right now, we have narrowed down the civ choices to:

Kloreep - Egypt
quantum - Greeks
Redstar1 - Germany
lmtoops - Japan
ZargonX - Ottomans or Persia
Sharpe - Babylon, Greek, Ottomans or Persia
Tiberius - waiting for all of us to decide

Well I will gladly withdraw from my Greek choice so that quantum gets it and I will give ZargonX his choice of those 2 and then choose between Babylon and one of Ottomans or Persia (unless Tiberius wants one of these). I can live with any of those 3.

As soon as Sharpe will tell us that he wants Babylon or the Ottomans, I'll update the first post in this thread with all the important info. Please wait for my "approval" post, when I'll say "Go ahead, set up the game" and then you can gather all the needed info from the first post. Thanks

Hmm - heads or tails

(Sharpe flips a coin - and looks at it - and realizes that he has just flipped a two headed coin - hmm... gets another but realizes that this one is a two tailed coin...)

K, I choose Ottomans. (Can't risk possibly being near jungle with a non-industrious civ as much as I like Babylon).

I seem to be having problems with my internet connection - can't seem to stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time (on cable no less) - so my apologies if I don't reply or read the messages very quickly. Hopefully I can get this straightened out soon...

OK,

I have finally set the game up for you. Sorry for the delay. I used a custom generated map to make sure that your starting positions are somewhat comparable.

The game really is at Monarch even if played under 1.14f (I verified it by test playing a couple of turns), so keep those citizens happy!

Good luck, everybody!

4000BC savegame sent to Sharpe few minutes ago.

P.S.: You have no idea how strong the temptation to name the leader of Egyptians "Kloreepatra" was...
