Should people be allowed to change polling decisions ? Full PM-box? Change here!

As the title says, should people be allowed to change polling decisions, while the poll is still underway, for example, if Kass makes them feel bad untill they stop voting for the banana?

"Yes - post in the thread saying "I change my decision" IN BOLD CAPS"

We can't have "Yes - but this makes the original invalid", since then someone could slow a decision down remarkably by changing their mind if the poll result doesn't look good for them.

No, theres no proof one has voted B, so he cant change his vote from B to A. Several requests may lead to a repoll, though.

EDit : we ve been doing it before (changing votes) but only for a few votes when the issue of the poll wasnt determined. In no case a change of vote should change the official poll result, IMHO.

Hm, Pande does make a point. I want to change my vote

But yes, I guess the choice of repolling if a change in opinion is widespread is the best.

No.

Ah, a paraphrase of one of Cornwallis's lines in that scene in The Patriot where Gibson cons him into releasing a bunch of prisoners for a bunch of straw "British Officers"

In any case, a vote should be final... if you're not sure, don't vote till you are (or til the poll's about to close )

Bullshit. As someone who owns his own vB, I can tell you that the admins can check who has voted for what on which polls.

Admin Panel => Select "Who Voted?" option under the "Threads & Posts" heading of the main menu => Choose Poll Question from the list => Select "List Votes"

It's that simple.

GT doesnt have this powers, so you're gonna call Markos each time ? And mods have already stated they can only see who has been voting in a poll, not what they have been voting for.

And in what kind of democracy had someone ever been able to change its vote, like "Oh, excuse me I didnt know that, may I just find my bill in the ballot and exchange it. Thank you.".
The very definition of a democratic vote is that it is definitive.

Given that questionable cases ar elikely to be rare, I don't think we'll have to call MarkG that often.

Put an end to popups!

Well, even if we ask Markos, all we can know is if the person voted or not.

What Archaic just pointed out is that Markos can see who voted for what.

Voted "No".

I strongly thinks that everybody should be cautious when it comes to voting.

In normal every day life, when there is a vote, you don't get the opportunity to switch your vote, hence it should be the same here.

Besides, and as pointed out before in this thread, if the poll results in a 'wrong' decision to be taken, there is still the possibility to create another poll to correct the situation.

Cheers
