	OFFICIAL: Name of third city! Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Following the same principle of the other city naming. I will be naming our city after a important member of out community.

And this time i will be honour our current Senior Justice mapfi.
For all the effort he gave to the community and CTP2! Participating intensivily of the constitution creation in all articles, for being the current Senior Justice, last term judge, who have held the longest game chat ever, also helding the turn chat for two important when we started negotiations with the Germans, helped me with the screen shot posting and who post here very frequently! Not to mention his work outside the DG with mods like the Religion mod and the Hidden Nationality coding.

I have chose the name mapfipolis. But others name variants (mapfiland, mapfia, maurian, etc...) can be accept specially those given by the honoured mapfi.

So do you agree with naming the third city after mapfi?

Why dont you make resolutions to name the cities???

And it wasnt me who first suggested this name system and it wasnt just me who loved the idea!! You have the power to do everything you can if supported by the majority of the people!!!

yes, but maybe the use of a 'personal name' should require the consent of its 'owner' in the case of these kind of names...

It is not easy to find a name most people like but i do believe this system is working. Very few people is voting 'No'. (In the last poll only mapfi did).

But i would like to remember all that 'resolutions polls' are resolutions and since i was the one who brought them to the constitution I really love to see them in practice!

I never got critics until now about the use of the name. Actually, Locutus felt quite flattered and mapfi's complaint is about the naming system and not the use of his name! After all if mapfi doesnt agree with the use of his name i will just name it after the next guy in the list!
But I will ask the next honoured citizen if he doenst want to see his name in a city!

(And if given the opportunity, would change my vote- if mapfi says no... then I don't think we should name the city after him)

Solution:
The President suggests a candidate... we vote Yes or No.

if yes, then the candidate suggests a name.

If anyone sufficiently hates the name, then they can start a resolution opposing it.

As I've said before, I agree with mapfi that naming cities after people is rather unoriginal and silly. I'm not sure if I like the MrBaggin's system but IMHO it's better than the current one...

As i said you can already start collect names for the city. And start an unnoficial poll to know the best name. Once chosen the name the Resolution poll to the know the best name. You dont need me for this!!!

And to make a list with all DG community (I current am only posting the most famous) can make my popularity decrease (seriously, I really dont want to make such list not because of votes since i wont run for President again but people may feel uncomfortable with their rank and i dont want to be the cause of that!

Sorry, i dont mean to be tirannic. I just have experienced how difficult is to find a good name.

I think it is nice that each citizen gets to leave their mark on the game(if its 'your' city under attack you may feel more connected?), i'm only against using our Apolyton names cause it can cause confusion in chat and on the forum discusing the game. Still the chosen person could just name it what they want if they want - maybe like in the case of Mapfi where he doesn't want his name as a city then let him choose. Anything is better than that first city nameing circus we went through.

Yes, Pedrunn you are right, but you could have included the information that is an open poll

And for the other's:

The President (Pedrunn) has the right to choose any name he likes. If you/we don't like it, raise a resolution/amendment poll to change this.

I actually liked the idea of Pedrunn as it will honour some of our citizens. The only problem is that some people didn't like the idea, out of various reasons. But again, you think that some people in reality would have liked what they did with their names? The only difference is, they were dead and not able to complain anymore.

But again, if you don't like raise a poll.

And Yes, I agree, the problems, we had with naming our first city, were not enjoyable.

It's the presidents job to choose the name not mine. I don't want to. I have however a right to voice my opinion being: I don't like the naming after DG-members. I'd prefer something like we did temporarily with the second city, naming it Kartoffelpuffer after the potato there or any other kind of fun naming. That's why I vote no. But really, I don't care that much - and the people seem to think it's nice to name cities like that. That's why I said, I'm not even going to bother voicing my opinion anymore. I'm a minority anyway, so go ahead and leave me alone with this city naming stuff!

how about this:

1. Each citizen of Lemuria will have the option of chosing a name for a city(might be nice to draw up a rota so no-one gets left out).

2. If a citizen declines to name a city then the President can offer a poll or if the poll produces no clear winner or takes longer than x days to resolve,then he can choose one.

3. Once a city has been named no-one can ask to rename it.

Depends, we might not build enough cities for every citizen, unless we're gonna rename captured cities... ?

I prefer to keep some culture from the previous owners and just change the name a little.

I proposed a similar solution 'years' ago, but other's persuaded me, that the Pres. should have this power...............

My idea was more:

Having a thread, where on a rotary system, any citizen could post his suggestion and the Pres. could have choosen from (top to bottem)............ But it was persuaded

The only problem is, we would need to raise an Amendment to change the connie.........

Since mapfi steped back on choose a new name and since the name mapfipolis (try to say this name loud five times as fast as you can ) will be the name of the third city probably the old Innsbruck which will be conquered but coul also be the one created by the settler. Which one comes first .

But the new system in which a chosen member of the DG community will give the name he wants will start in the naming of the fourth city in this thread

For those who didnt like the name of the third city there is always the resolution poll solution.
