Where can I find MOO3 info? Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

That's what I've been asking myself. Dan's previews sort of whet the appetite, while the IG forums I found next to useless (do to signal to noise ratio). There have been a few good posts here, but....

I finally started looking at orionsector.com (note that I am in no way affiliated with them). Wow. There's a real wealth of information there. While I was picking through their forum, I noticed mention of the "Data Dumps". Check them out for some real interesting reading... design notes etc.

http://www.orionsector.com/pages/dd/datadumps.shtml

I guess some (or a lot) is out of date, but the basic flavor appears to have remained the same.

Sorry if this is old news to those of you that have been following the game for months (or years...), but with the release approaching, I'm sure more people (like me) will start to show an interest in the game and will be wondering where to start gleaning some facts once they've finished reading the AARs/previews.

Tired of ads?

The AAR's and previews are better sources of information about the game as built than the data dumps which lay out the ideas on the drawing board 18 months ago. I understand your enthusiasm for reading everything you can find though

Copy of my post on the other thread....

Most of us havent played it yet, only the betatesters, but we are all really looking forward to it.

To get loads of info about the game, I recommend registering for the official moo3 forums:

http://www.ina-community.com/forums...?s=&forumid=224

and then reading the following threads, which contain the thoughts of the betatesters, game summaries, and lots of questions answered by the betatesters:

http://www.ina-community.com/forums...threadid=251246

for info, and

http://www.ina-community.com/forums...threadid=239742

for the game reports

The game reports are also on this forum in the AARs thread, posted by Roland the Mad, and also on Orion Outpost at moo3outpost.tk in the "reports" section

The game looks to be quite amazing, and the evidence of that is how much the betatesters love it, and how much time they spend answering our questions and writing up stories about their games. People that dont care for a game dont do stuff like that

a tip for the IGMOO boards: every question ahs been asked there 1000 times, and every complaint made 10000 times. Thus, people often get annoyed at newbies who ask the same questions or make the smae complaints. Dont let that throw you. Read the threads I pointed too, and then you should know enough not to ask questions that will get you flamed. And generally if you dont make complaints about moo3, people wont flame you.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Thanks Alexfrog!

And yes Grumbold, I know that some of the data dumps are hopelessly out of date, but it still provided me with a good idea of the foundations upon which the game was built.

Got spare money?

I'm not going to read any previews, I want to throw myself right into the fray without preparation, heh.

What starting diff do you think is best for the first time? Everyone here are strategy game veterans.

Support Apolyton

I'll probably start a game on Easy, with 6-10 AI's, on a Large Galaxy, and with a medium amount of random events. I'm not sure if I want to start in a Senate or not. I do want to pick the Nommo first, and I heard its a good idea to be in the Senate because they have great diplomacy, but I also want to expand quietly just to get use to the interface and the game itself. So I'm not sure what do to there, then again I can put it at random and let the game decide if I'm in the Senate or not.
