	Is the US to go the way of the Roman Empire? Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

It seems that our populace lacks resolve. Every wacko conspiracy theory is repeated until it gains popularity with the mob. President Kennedy once said, "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." He was an American patriot. How we got from that to Johnson's 'great society' I'll never get. So many today look to the government for a hand out. The government itself is a tool of special interests, when their interest should be the well being and selfless governing of OUR great nation. People have forgotten that we make up a greater whole. That the Civilization we live in is the one that our parents and their parents poured their sweat out for. America is a living thing and we are the life of it. The great experiment lives or dies with its generations. Got it?!?!

Now stand up! Don't let the country down, and damn it, don't let the ****ing euros convince you it isn't great, and live up to it, BE great Americans!

BTW: USA is not an empire, it will neither ever be an empire
Another thing, if the politicians in the world continiue like this there will probably not be any USA, nor any WORLD for that matter in around 10 years.

I chose to live in Utah simply because it had lower crime than the rest of your country, cleaner air, and friendlier people.

Rome died of a bloated bureaucracy and entitlement programs that ruined its economy and made it increasingly difficult to raise enough money to pay for an army primarily composed barbarians because Roman citizens would no longer defend the empire.

Does this sound more like Europe or United States?

Actually some of the American analsysts like to compare the US with the old Athenian "empire" upon most of Greece.

However I think that in this instacne with Iraq the US is more like a young Rome where it proposed to south democratic Greeks (like Athens) to help them against the Illiryans (pirates) who messed up trade.

To conveince them and to try not to get them to allign with northern monarchic Greeks (Macedonians and Thebans) Rome said "we share common values such as democracy. There is a threat (Illyrians). Whoa re you going to trust if not those who share the same values as you? (and not the Macedonians and other Greeks which had monarchic governments).

So in that respect you're a bit like Rome
