	ship design help plez Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

i have a question and it might sound dumb to most of you...err...how do you design your own ships in MoO2?...i cant figure it out...(im new to MoO) in the colony screen where you build there is a button lik "design" or somrthing but i cant press it... for some reason is unavailable...do i need some kind of tech to design or something?...plez help....

failry simple,

you need to have at least a starbase to build bigger ships (bigger than scouts) and you need to have certain techs as well to build bigger ships as well.

Is it right from the start where you have those problems?

What is your setup (pre-warp...../....?????)

You can make a ship on your first planet but to desgin one make shure you do not have automatic combat. I could be wrong but it you do not do the battles yourself I believe you can't make your own ships, I can't find my manual right now but will let you know when I do.

Also click on design then click on one of the six classes you have to desing your ship.

eg. click on design then click on the very top ship and make a scout.

try that and let me know

If Tactical Combat is not selected you can not design ships, nor refit them.
You need to have the tech to build ships in the first place, such as engines.
You will then see scouts available to build. You can select design and a ship design. Then replace the parts such as weapons or specials, if you have any tech for it.
Engines and armor is automatic.
You can built frigate and destroyers with out a star base.
You need a starbase or BS or SF to build cruisers or larger ships. You need the tech to build Titans and Doomstars.
Once you have that you can make a design. You can refit a ship if it is in orbit in a planet that has the required stuff (SB for capitol ships). You select refit in the screen for the build queues and a list of ships in orbit appears and you selct the one you want and the the class to refit it with.
Note to design a titan or DS, you select a design for a ship and when it pops up, select the hull type.

Ki-Deshi, did you have the first few techs? If the game of yours was a prewarp one then you should have started without the techs needed to build ships. Try researching a little first ;-)
