Sorta. But that isn't relevant because a)I would not expect people to support me going to war, and b)I would simply go AWOL rather than go to war, except in absolute self defense. Actually, I was joining the military to get my way through college/law school paid, and valuable free experience. Just think of it as my way of ****ing the government for robbing me.

I'd rather be AWOL than a murderer.

Why would I want to murder someone to avoid getting ass-raped? How is that moral?
Besides, this is irrelevant - I would have been going in as an officer, so couldn't I just resign my commission?
Anyway, point is, I was joining for the money that the government owed me - they tax the **** out of me and nothing happens to them, so damn if I'm not gonna try to get it back. If they asked me to do something immoral, I wouldn't do it. Period.

Well, I oppose rape, theft, and murder. Nothing wrong with that.

I actually think it is the other way around. The UK gave Labrador to Newfoundland in 28.
Canada then decided it wasn't enough and gave itself to Newfoundland in 49.
The referendum was actually to decide whether or not the newfies accepted.

Generalizing is unbecoming... personally I know the position and names of all Mid-East countries and I remember learning it in 6th grade. Obviously when we have shows that purposely seek out the dumbest people imaginable you'll find people without a clue, but I'm willing to bet the majority of High School grads know the geography af the Americas, Europe and the Mid-East. Granted, I'm not sure about Africa or Asia, but that's what happens when your education is Euro-centric.
Edit:My keyboard is isn't registering everything...

Imperialist propaganda. A truly democratic country would have a 98% voter turnout, just like Iraq's recent re-election of Saddam Hussein. |
Almost there :
There was a 93.52% turnout in the 1995 referendum.
Registered voters : 5 087 009
Turnout : 4 757 509
Invalid (rejected ballots) :86 501. (1.82%)
Yes option (separation) : 49.42 % (2 308 360)
No option (status quo) : 50.8% (2 362 648)
No chads. Pregnant or otherwise.
