Loinburger, Frogger: Yes, I know. It has a well-known reputation of a terrible class here, between non-mathematics students, only can be matched by Diff.& Ingrl. Calculus 1 MM ( the two Ms mean that it's like the ordinary course, but encompasses more material, harder hws, tests, etc. )
What are the difference between Partial, and ordinary, Diff. Eq. btw?

And I took about half of average. Now bear in mind that this was in the same semester as PDEs with the worst, most anal teacher I've ever had (with homeworks of 25+ hours) |
yah, tha PDE class sounds like some of the ones that I have had
my freinds often took ~24 for physics (undergrad E&M in particular)
and math freinds took a lot also, I think arround 20 (not as sure) - this was for classes like analysis 2 and topology
I was usually about 1/3 of average, but my secret was that I just quit doing it, not that I was done

For my analysis classes, I did less than 2 hours a week homework for 10+ novel proofs per week. It's so ****ing easy, Ramo. Construct an open neighbourhood, assume thm. not true, see what it gets you... |
there are ones more complicated than this

I don't think grades matter muhc
or they sholdn't
I know that mine were not the best (the whole quiting HW when it was 1/2 to 3/4 done did that to me)

Isn't that kind of a problem for grad school. Physics is pretty competitive, isn't it? |
grades don't really matter much
or at elast, I got into equivilent schools with others who all had all As
I averaged a B+ in physics

yah, the classical mechanics prof last semester made up his problems
they were hell

Is your class composed of systems of linear equations, multiplying matrices, and geometric problems? Those are applications. |
my class had about a week on systems/eigen*s/whathave you
that is why the physics people hated
I think that the math department didn't want to taech it for physics peopel anymore, which is why they taught it that way
physics just made a math methods class to cover it later
