He was at the second memorial for the Columbia astronauts. The admin does keep him good and out of the view though. I find it more absurd than anything, this mania about keeping Cheney all stashed away.

I know he was at the SotU address, but I didn't see any clips of him on the news that night.

Well, that's the thing about the US VP: His job is really at the discretion of the President. Americans got comfortable always seeing Gore doing SOMETHING. We came to expect it. But he only did those things because fmr-Pres. Clinton sent him to do those things. The Constitution doesn't really give the VP a whole lot to do, so each Pres. must decide how best to make use of his/her VP. Obviously Pres. Bush Jr. isn't giving VP Cheney nearly as much to do publically as his predisessor, but the "Shadow Government" hideout plan seems to be his primary role: keep the government going in case someone or something kills everything in D.C.
