Nudism is a poltical statement. you never find completly nude people in anceint tribes. For one, you need some amount of clothing for basic protection, and then you see items meant for decoration and as signals of social status and identity.
Modern nudism is an attempt to create a place where one tries to remove some of the sexual tensions (by removing the corrolation of nakedness with sex) and also to remove social barriers. you know someone is rich, poor, some contruction workers, lawyer, doctor, soldier, so forth an so on because of their clothes. If no one wore clothes you can see age and health, but their social status remains a mystery, or is irrelevant.
