My sister looked that saying up on encarta around 6 years ago, taught it to me a mere 4 years later, and now 2 years after that what I remember of what she told me actually resembles the real words!

The only differences were pivossa -> pivoska and kymmenon -> koksii (ok, that one changed a fair bit).

"koksii" sounds like a garbled version of "kaksi". It's entirely possible the version you learned was a more literal translation. "Kymmenen" means ten, you see, and "kaksi" means two. However, the version with "kymmenen" is usually used, I've never heard anyone say the phrase using "kuin kaksi oksalla". We just don't do that.
