Tired of ads?

If you want to crusade on cracking down on crime, how about you crusade against corporate crime, eh? It costs America much more money than a bunch of adultering bungholes.

Like I told that Farah guy in my email. Adultery is only a crime in backwards, conservative, theocracies.

There's a reason we stopped enforcing adultery laws sometime last century, orange.

Despite which the adultery rate has remained about constant since then.

I wonder if a personal experience is interfering with your judgment on this.

I'm not talking about the death penalty, sava

And yes, I'm quite against corporate crime. You should know my views on that are almost identical to yours.

Why should that type of thing go on without punishment as if it's completely ethical. Seems to me some big crimes find their cuase with infidelity in relationships.

Sure, it's easy enough to say: if he cheats on you, get a divorce. But most people who are cheated on don't feel as if that's redemption for the crime. No wonder it leads to backlash on a criminal scale.

The thing is, the cost of adultery is very subjective, it certainly shouldn't be a criminal issue.

The thought that the morality police are going to come and get me if I diddle my neighbour's wife.

Criminalising a behaviour which half of people indulge in?

Interesting.

And what about people that swing? Eh? I mean, that's technically adultery. Are you going to lock them up, too? And how do you prove the act of adultery? Do you have to have a videotape of these people having sex? Where's the proof beyond a reasonable doubt? How do you prove two people had sex?

You don't have to tiptoe around the issue. Yeah, I was cheated on twice. I know what a bad taste it leaves in your mouth, and I can certainly identify with the rage it makes you feel.

I've never acted on that rage, so I don't think there's any disagreement when it comes to her guilt or innocence - she's guitly. But at least understand that she'd probably live her whole life without committing any such crime if it wasn't for the fact that her husband was unfaithful.

Also - assigning a penalty to an act isn't always to discourage the occurance of the act. In this case it would discourage resulting acts. If murder was legal, you'd have a whole lot more vigilante justice, would you not?

Same with any other crime. Yeah videotape would certainly help, but how about eyewitnesses? DNA? Anything else.

Swingers? You mean polygamy? Or just people who play the field? If there's no marriage, there's no contract...not a written one anyway. I don't see how that would apply...if the other spouse is ok with multiple partners, that should be stated in the 'contract' of marriage.

I don't know if I've necessarily decided that I feel it should be 'criminalized'...but it'd be nice to see some penalties for it besides grounds for divorce.

bullsh1t... if she's going to murder her husband for cheating, she's probably as likely to snap if somebody cut her off while driving. This whole excusable rage crap is stupid. You are not a stable person if you can't handle that type of situation. And she deserves the chair.

Again, i don't think she's innocent. Running her over once would make it a crime, let alone doing it many times...but I think that shows that this wasn't about murdering the guy, it was about emotional backlash.

SAME??!! are you really off your rocker buddy?

It's all heresy orange. If I rob a bank, there's proof of a crime. Money is missing. If I boink some chick other than my wife, there's no evidence of a crime unless my wife finds out. Sure, there's some mental distress involved in finding out you were cheated on. But big deal. It's part of life. Deal with it. It definitely is not a criminal act and it shouldn't be.

Bullshit. Half of all people in this world are cheated on. No significant portion of them kills their partner.

This woman has an abnormal capacity for murder, and displayed it. Case closed.

Why not respond to my comment that adultery laws did little if anything to lower adultery rates?

The other woman may admit to it. There could be a pregnancy. There could be an STD. There could be DNA evidence on clothing (sperm, vaginal fluid). Eyewitnesses. You could walk in on them. Why is this aspect of what I'm saying so hard to understand? Evidence is not that difficult.

There's a lot of mental distress involved. Why should that be a 'part of life'? Maybe it shouldn't be a criminal act, but why does everyone act like this is no big deal?

Perhaps. But that doesn't mean that she would have if she hadn't been cheated on. I'm sure we're all stone cold murders at heart, it just takes something in particular to set us off. We're all animals.

I'm not being defensive. I don't really think alimony is a 'penalty' in the traditional sense. Financial support isn't great redemption, either. My "no ****" was more like "thanks for stating the obvious, smart ass"

Big deal orange. I could cause someone as much mental distress by insulting them. What, should insulting people be a crime too?

I'm not saying mental distress should be part of life... it simply is. Deal with it and stop whining about how people who cheat on people should be locked up.

Hehe...I know. This woman should have left her husband when she first found out, rather than trying to shed 20 pounds and giving him sex on demand. She's dumb for staying with him.

Well, think about the kids that get bullied and ****ed with in high school, and then go on a killing spree in the halls. Are those that caused the kid such a breakdown really innocent? Same idea...it happens in life, but it really shouldn't. There's no reason for it.

Have I ever said they should be locked up? I toyed with the idea of criminal punishment, but I never actually said I'm in favour of it. It was more of a devil's advocate stance in the beginning since EVERYONE is defending this dead guy - why? He sounds like a right ***** to me. Did you read the barnotes?

Criminal consequences to acts between consenting adults in the bedroom are untenable. They can only be vaguely and selectively enforced due to their nature, and are completely immoral in my opinion.

It's not like you're punishing them for not doing anything wrong. And I'm not saying that it will cause an elimination in crimes of passion either. I just think it's pretty shitty that a woman kills her husband because he cheated on her multiple times, in an obvious crime of passion and rage, and everyone defends the dead guy. Should he have died? Certainly not...and she's guilty of murder, but he would have otherwise gotten off without punishment.

quote:

Except when they violate a marriage contract. You act as if there's nothing wrong with screwing around on someone. Why have marriage at all, if it's ok to not abide by the ideals of the contract.

If that means don't get married - fine. Don't get married. Nothing wrong with that either.
