This is a future-story essay
Long time ago, around the year 2000BC, there was a flourishing and peaceful nation called Spain. Spanish lands occupied all the south part of the continent. To their north, there were threee small civilizations: The Neu Demogyptians, the Warmongers and the Luxans.
The Luxans were people with a big mouth. They spoke all the day, and their words made people from other civs very furious. They were also very proud, and they thought they could do anything they wanted and win anyone they fighted. In their crazy mind their destiny was to become rulers of the world.
The Demogyptians were very afraid, because the Luxans have told them that the three civs of the corners wanted to destroy them, and they started to desesperately build a powerful defensive army. As a result of that ND's army was stronger than the armies of the other threee civs together.
Neu Demogyptia furious with Lux started a war to completely take them. Well, technically Lux started the war with their great mouths when they killed a Demogyptian scout, but the war was about to start anyway.
At the beginning the Warmongers and the Spanish were happy because the luxans big-mouth were about to get what they deserved, but then someone asked: "Do you realize that ND has an army bigger than the three other civs together? I don't feel comfortable knowing that they can do that".
And the peaceful people of Spain answered "Oh Demogyptians are not warmonger people. They are just giving Luxans what they deserve". "Let them take Lux. They will stop after that"
And so, Spain continued their peacuful expansion insted of building their defenses. And the Spanish civilization flourished, with bigger cities, great buildings and nice places. Meanwhile the Luxan civilization was destroyed by the Demogyptians.
Later the Demogyptians attacked the Warmongers. And the same people asked again: "Do you realize that Neu Demogyptia will not stop after they destroy the warmongers?". And the peaceful Spanish said: "They are warmongers. They deserve it. Let's improve our cities meanwhile, so we will get enough production capacity in the unlikely case they decide to attack us".
And the chineese were exterminated. And at the same time the Spanish civilization flourished even more. It has million of citizens, and several wonders which were known all around the world.
And then the Demogyptians wanted to settle in the NorthWest coast of Spain. a very rich one with luxuries and rich lands. And the peaceful Spanish said "They have the right to do that. After all we have more than half the land in the continent. They will stop after getting that city".
But they didn't stop after getting Silk City. And then the peaceful Spanish decided to build an army.
But it was too late.
And so the story of Spain ended.

Perhaps in the meantime I could send one of my nieces with her husband to the front line. If Arabia is going to sack and conquer and exterminate Ottomania, then they can at least do it in a polite fashion. My sister will try to devise a course on the etiquette of being conquered.

The war is a worrisome development and we MUST create a coalition to stop ND. With GoW fighting LI (as I believe from the title of the other thread) and only us and LI fighting ND we're goners. We MUST get GoW's help or else this will be the last days of Spain.

Problem is we can’t do anything except hope ND will be satisfied with one city until we get iron.

Never as long as a single member of the Nuñez family lives Spain will not lie down and die! You fear the enemy to the north? I spit on them! Your fear will cripple you and make you weak. I think we should stay OUT of this war. If we must involve ourselves then we must strike like the viper, quickly, deadly and WITHOUT WARNING!
Let them raze Lux Invicta, it is sad, but if the gods have destined it, then so be it. We however must not fall into disarray simply because our northern neighbours are stronger than us, we must train our young men to fight like the wolverine, fierce, furious and merciless.
Even if they outnumber us we will defeat them, first of all, our territory is easily defendable, second, we have mobility that they do not, and most important of all we will have initiative and flexibility. Our cities can quickly churn out soldiers and when the enemy is bogged down in the jungle we can calmly wait until they arrive, then add their bodies to the fertilizer of our land.
Fear not, for if all others stand paralyzed by the enemies number, I will stand as the rock which the ocean shall throw itself against in futility. No wave shall break me! If we stay strong together then NO WAVE SHALL BREAK US!

I agree no wave can break us if the gods are behind us. But if the gods were also behind Lux Invicta, as they claimed, and since the gods are not concerned with earthly things as well as our eternal spirits, then they may not save our country if the enemy destroys us.
Unless we can be able to manage effectively a war against those two giants, as they soon will be once they drain the blood of the Lux Invictan corpse, than we shall collapse. Pre-emptive war to destroy an enemy capital, and civilization, may seem harsh, but it may be better than the alternative of being totally overrun by the enemy of the north, for though they are barbaric, they are better soldiers, and they have the better chance of creating a giant efficient army than we do. Unless we can do the same effectively, we will fall.
To say so is not cowardly. It is realistic.

I agree with señor Calamari. Everyone knows that I trust the Neu Demons in the north less than anyone else, but we must not be fools. Right now, they can crush us, so we cannot make them angry. We must try to present ourselves as their friends as long as we can and build our military meanwhile. That's why I fully support our new despor Augusto Togas and it's policy.
Let's hope we'll be prepared by the time they attack.
