Celts back to Democracy, thats it.

Celts- Democracy, 2084 gold, Cap: Armagh, and researching: Flight. Hostile with us, and at peace with us, allied with the Mongolians, and have Fundy. (Whoop-de-do!)

Japs- Republic, 2846 gold, Cap: Kyoto, and researching: Amphibious Warfare. Enrage with us, at war with us, and allied with the Carths and China, and have no new tech.

*Note, polls will end Sunday morning because I go out of town after church*

we should be able to trade with the coastal japanese cities without too much problem. Celts would take more effort, although an escorted transport in Cremona would go a long way to making it viable

I'm starting to think that we should set up a shipchain to the Republican Chinese and Japanese, and just trade with them. Simplifies things, less ocean to defend, fewer escorts needed. And Republican AI cities will yield decent bonuses, even if the commodity is undemanded.

So, don't trade with the Celts, trade with the Japanese.

I wouldn't mind seeing a shipchain, although it would probably have to be along the polar route for the AI to have less interest in our ships. I've tried the last couple of trade reports (and a couple other posts) to get freight to go the southern route, with somewhat less than desired success - we don't even have a transport in barcelona any more.

Speculating (by looking at which transport is dead), I'd say Prez figured it was going to take too long to get a transport built in panama canal to get to freeport, so took the one i had advised for barcelona and tried to make a run for it to Freeport... (maybe the chinese war took presedence over my transport too )

Once i had the barcelona transport back in place, i was going to advocate getting 1-2 more (and escorts) so we could make 1-turn deliveries to the southern japanese and western chinese. The biggest problem right now is that we don't have any escorts that are less than 3 turns from barcelona right now, and don't have any transports that are less than 4 turns away except the vigo transport, which i would like to use in conjuction with a transport out of whale island for deliveries to western japan. For the most part, prez did a good job of getting the ones we have into position for quicker deliveries - we just need more transports for international waters without taking away from our domestic infrastructure

Well I can certainly add a few more transports and navy to our military buildlist. How many transports and how many escorts?

I've tried to get the transports we have arranged for more optimal internal transportation, we're still a little short, but much better arranged right now.

I'd like to have at least 1 more transport for either Amazon Island or Whale lsland for deliveries to cities in that vicinity.

I'd like at least 1 (preferably 2-3 for ship-chaining) for Barcelona to the Southern Japanese or Western Chinese

I'd like at least one for Freeport (we wouldn't need an escort if we just deliver to Canton), more if we go down the north or eastern chinese coast

I'd like more transports for the Greater Naples trip - Gold is demanded by a lot of cities in that area, and for downtown naples, depending on the city delivering it isn't going to be replaced either. Right now we have 2 transports working independantly, meaning 6 turn deliveries...

A transport in Quinsay would be nice if we deliver to the mongols once we get the freights in the area

I'd like one for Obladi if we deliver to the Carts.

It also would be nice to have a transport operating from Granada-Turin since we're building freights there so we don't interrupt domestic ferries. For future goals, one in Cremona would be nice if we ever deliver to the Celts again

And my usual disclaimer - yes, I know that's a bit of a wish list

If i could just have 2 more, I'd want one in freeport and one in Barcelona. If 3, I'd like a second transport for the Port Easton-Weston Port ferry which could then be drafted for delivery between Granada and Turin if necessary

Ok. That sounds fine. I'm not the one who has to accomodate all those builds- that's cavebear's

I'll probably recommend 2 transports and 2 AEGIS cruisers.

Put an end to popups!

Minister of Trade SCG –

Transport at Amazon Island or Whale City – Amazon Island would be easier to build at, but you also wanted a Freight from there (for the Gold) and a unit would knock shields available down to 3. Whale Island is building an Offshore Platform and we would lose 5 turns worth of shields by converting. We are really sufferring from some of these low-production cities in that area. How about a Transport from St Praski after the Bank (3 turns to Bank)?

Barcelona – I have Factory after Offshore Platform, but the Offshore Platform will increase shields from 5 to 15 (in gross terms), and that’s not bad. We could build a Transport there next (I’ve changed the spreadsheet to reflect that).

Freeport has military problems at the moment, which I think need to be resolved first. I grant the Minister of War the decision over Freeport’s production for now (currently at rushed Coastal Fortress). However, I currently have a Coastal Fortress lined up for Panana Canal next, I’m changing that to Transport. That would be completing the current Aqueduct first, then Transport after. 5 turns total.

2 Transports and 1 possible one…

That was kind of what i was looking at - They don't have to be built in the cities i want them to operate out of I just don't want them to take 12 turns to get there

another excellent build order decision

Again, that was what i was looking for especially since the transport was in the build queue for panama canal last turn if i remember right

If we can get the transport from Panama Canal safely there, we won't need an escort for it to deliver to canton To do that, since it is 15 spaces by sea, i would personally recommend moving it just 1-3 spaces the round its built. That way it can end its 2nd turn 5-7 spaces from Freeport in relative safety on the back side of the penensula, rather than right next to freeport and in range of every naval vessel in the north chinese waters.

I'm glad that my sugestions worked out for you on this. To do any one thing in a particular city, we give up doing other things. It a bit of a balance, though I do enjoy working through the adjustments.

I also liked that you thought of the cautious initial transport Panama Canal move to make the last ones safest. I do the same often. There is a difference between how you *can* move and how you *should* move. Knowing where not to move is move valuable than knowing where you *could* move.
