I'm suprised they took out the option to fight against the ruling. That was always fun in moo2. Even if you won the election. . . .

Yeah, I think it is kind of messed up how you can be defeated in through a senate you`re not even a part of. My empire recognizes no superior authority!

I'm sure it won't be hard to add to a patch or mod. From the looks of things, I've no doubt the developers left lots of "hooks" in things for us to play with.

So, I'm trying to follow this...you'd prefer a situation where you can ignore the senate election results and just take on the galaxy, like in MOO2?

You've got huevos, man...

Well, it is just my thought, but I think that if you`re not part of the senate you shouldn`t have to abide by that victory condition just like you don`t have to abide by their laws.

It should be an option to have final war because there could possibly be conditions in which you were stronger than the Senate, but outside it. Then some jackass gets the senate win even though you could roll him over sixteen times or something..

They've taken out the final war?!!? NO WAY!!!

In MOO1, my favourite wins came from defying the senate. It also gave me my largest challenges.
In fact, it often placed me in situations which forced me to come up with new tactics - eg, it forced me to think up a tactic that I called "Population overloading".

And besides, it is consistant to allow races to not abide by the wishes of the senate (or UN? ).
Perhaps we should even have the option of allowing a certain number of AI races to do the same - allow them the option of defying the senate. You may find yourself only one of say, two races fighting together for survival.
(or, if *you* won the election, cleaning up the remaining races with a few completely loyal vassal races aiding you).

That is exactly how it worked in MOO2. I am greatly disapointed that this is not how it will be in MOO3 aswell.

Now this is silly. That guy played well, made some progess, but then all of a sudden the game is over and he has lost, and he never got the chance to influence the outcome of the game. Final War needs to come back.

The ign review appears to be open to noninsiders now. Its a nice read, but he wasn't able to cover all aspects of the game in his six page review. oh well.

Dang it IG, hurry up and ship the game already.

Well I was trying to be funny, the point still stands. The aim of the Moo series has always been to make your empire the supreme power in the Orion sector.

That is not the point. It would be nice to have the senate victory - but ALSO to have the option of rejecting the election outcome and taking on the universe in a suicidal rage.

I'll most likely play with Senate Win off, or start in the Senate... I don't like the idea of starting outside the senate, playing to turn 200 or so and having the computer inform me the game is over... if they put final war in I'll leave Senate Win on, because I would at least be given a fighting chance

They're only computer players, I can take on a galaxy full of them, no problem

You don't have to turn it off. You focus your strategy against those in the senate.

I think it simply adds an element to the games. All stock races (except Ithkul) can be played twice in two very different campaigns. If senate victory is turned off the consequences are minimized for those out of the senate and the benefits of being in the senate are reduced also.

I'm aware I'd be missing out on part of the game if I left it off... that's where the "most likely" part of my post comes from

Once I'm reasonably confident I can "interdict" such powerplays, even from outside the Senate, I'll probably leave Senate Win on no matter what... unless I have other plans

I don't know if you read the reviews. Since I read pretty much all of them I don't remember which one talked about this issue.

The reviewer talked about how they felt they needed to attack senate members with potential high populations (insectoids were specifically mentioned) before they could be voted head of the senate. That said I don't know the difficulty level the reviewer was playing at.
