Normandy is still in France if I recall correctly.

Furthermore, the Gauls were not the French, Gauls were named so by the Romans (Galli), but in fact they were Celts (name presumably coming from the Greek Keltoi) and the Celts originated from somewhere in the middle of Europe more or less, and well, they just conquered everything around them. When the Romans conquered Gaul, Romans and Gauls mixed after a period of time so basically, the French didn't even exist in that time too!

check the USA for example, the majority comes from Europe,.... okay, some African slaves came later on, a few natives, and more recently Asians and stuff, but in the end most of em still come from Europe, and do you feel European????? Hmm yes, I'm sure absoutely NOTHING changed in France's geopolitical situation after nearly a millenium.

The Normans were essentially Vikings who were allowed by the French to settle in Normandy. Normans = not French. Around 900 years later, Normandy could have been considered totally French. Any questions?

The point is that those Vikings that became Normans, ultimately became assimilated into modern France and are now French!

OK, as the overwhelming majority of people living in america during the war of independence were from Britain - we effectively lost a civil war and the war was won not by americans, but by breakaway british...
