The first post in the actual InfoCenter is excellent; thank you.
For everyone's benefit, could you add civ traits, starting techs, and UUs?
Thanks. |
Added. Be so kind and check the details for any errors for me, please. I am doing all this in a bit of haste.

2. We may want to re-arrange the team order once the actual order of play is established. Mongoose has developed a proposed one. |
I will do that once the order of play is finalized.

3. Regarding the 1BC site, it would be appreciated if we limited access and posting there to you and me. This has nor been an isse at all with our folks. CFC got in a bit of a nasty row over who was officially representing them. To this end - we may need to discuss team leader vs team moderator responsibilities. With the game up and running smoothly, I expect that the moderator, ie me, will not have much if anything to do. |
I agree. I do not really feel like posting there (what for? you do your job more than great) and will be perfectly happy if you continue serving as Apolyton's Ambassador to the UN. I will add a notice expressly suggesting no involvement in the discussion over at the 1BC UN is desired, unless expressly authorized by the Consuls/team.

4. You might want to add that no mini-map trading has also been agreed to. |
I would consider that part of the no contacts before the ingame contact made rule, but I will better expressly state that.

However, if we tailor it to yours, then we will always need at least one European consul. So - if you can give me a range - and same for nye and Ninot, I can feed it into the scheduling hopper. Thanks! |
I believe I will not be the cause of troubles now, nor in the future. My high availability time is basically from 7-8am to 10pm every day (sometimes as late as 2am next day), with occasional breaks of several hours now and then (with little pattern).
Due to the rather wide "window" I am able to play in, it might be a good idea to use that part of it that overlaps with at least one other Consul from the US/Canada - this would most probably be my late afternoon and evening, when it's like early to mid to late afternoon in the US/Canada. That way, when I am replaced as the Consul, the team would still be playing at convenient hours.
Anyway, as our Poly PtWDG shows, it does not really matter what time we choose, since the turns will quite likely take more than 24 hours, rendering any careful time scheduling void.

I know the question of mini-map trading came up somewhere. I took it to the intersite forum, and here is what the discussion was:
Re: PBEM DG United Nations Rules and FAQ.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A rules question has come up at Apolyton. We have agreed here that there should be no mini-map or other such trading prior to map-making. But can teams trade or send mini-maps or other such facsimiles after they discover map-making. The thinking here is that a minimap allows another civ to get some idea of your geography, and where you are , etc, without all the specific details of resources, improvements, city sizes, etc. Any thoughts? ... BetaHound
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My thoughts on this is that once embassies have been established the teams should be free to trade any information they desire. If you want to give another team details screens of parts of your civ then go right ahead for instance. I think this would open up much more in teh way of diplomacy and trading than limiting trading in the rules. For instance there may be times when a screen of someones border with a neighbour may be worth its weight in gold (or techs or resources ) to another civ. Im in favour of leaving this one open to interpretation.

I see the logic, and agree.
But should it be when a) contact is established, b) when map making is avaialble or c) when an emabssy is established?
I would suggest b. You have suggested c. And some of the folks back at Apolyton in our PTW Demo Game use a.
BetaHound
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Given the three choices, “B” is the only option. You can’t trade maps inside the game until Map Making is discovered, so no maps (screenshots included) should be exchanged before that time. The embassy is more a tool for early espionage activities and should not be considered a factor in early diplomatic exchanges.
miccofl
(Also agreed to by Crousto and Lucky. So that is the rule - mini-map or other such map type trading is OK once map-making has been discovered. ...which of corse - raises the question - by one or both teams?)

OK, with the updated info from Apolyton, this is how I have the play sequence:
German Team
Grenoille
GameCatcher
Firaxis
CDG
CGN
Apolyton
CFC
I believe this is correct.
By drawing numbers out of a bowl, it has been determined that Gamecatcher will have the honors of the first turn.
Please see the Setup thread for more info.
Thanks

Beta here now -
The order is OK, but - as Soren is trapped in NYC by the snowstorm and won't be able to play - we may not see the save until Thursday. |
You say or report that Gamecatcher is first to play, but they are third in the list? Can we have an updated list of play order? Or is that in another thread?
I HATE that you can't search this forum!
