Right, now I'm convinced that the intoduction of the system was premature. I have already uploaded 24,1 MB and the system hasn't prevented me from doing that. So basically I could keep uploading until the Linux disk partition which has Apache and all the files runs out of space. I.e. you have opened a nice backdoor for collapsing Settler.

It's somewhat working if there's no proper navigation links, no file and disk space indicators, no possibility to remove files and you can virtually upload as much as you want, until it chokes. Now that isn't a fully working system.

Well, I hope you don't mind that you now host the shareware mahjong game Kyodai. I don't condemn this feature, but I just point out that it still lacks quite much.

Isn't 20MB/user a lot? I mean, I know advertisers must be just throwing endless wads of money at Apolyton, but let's do the worst-case scenario math.

1. All 25,000 users immediately remember Apolyton and log on at the same time.
2. All of them upload and download constantly 20MB of files.
-Even assuming that the pages are 0 bytes, that's still 500GB of traffic. Can you handle that?

However, IRL it will probably be most used in the DGs.

Best Case Scenario:
1. Markos opens a PayPal account for Apolyton.
2. All users, including the inactives, empty their life savings into the account.
3. Repeat with users' children, grandchildren, etc. as time goes on.

This feature is way better than attachments, and I'm sure Mark can fix the teething problems. Now might also be the time to review the site's attitude to certain civ2 patches.

usually these numbers are decided assuming that not everyone will use that kind of numbers

I'm sure you're planning this already, but I would like to see some file attributes in the View Files screen, such as size and system create date, for comparing versions where necessary.

Not that I'll ever upload anything.

yes, if you have cookies enabled and have your username/password stored, they are entered automatically

i think some people will find attaching easier (since it's integrated into the reply page)
