Togas proved to all that a class system can work! Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Before the great nation of Spain came together as one, and before the city of Madrid was able to be proud of it's first mud hut, there was chaos. No one man could exhert control over another. Everyone was independant, of their own opinion, and with noone else to rule over them.

But then one man, a visionary of his time, began preaching of a class system. There would be upper classes, and lower classes. The upper classes would exploit the lower classes, to get more work done. The upper class would make the laws of the land, as the lower classes would be too busy working away in the fields to think or learn enough to do anything intelligent. The upper class would control the wealth of the land, and reap the benfits, as the lower class would only be distracted by such pleasantries, and a return to chaos would be found if they had any of these desires.

This man was known as Togas. He had opinions of what people should belong in a higher class, and which poeople should be sent off to work untill they died. As the only great visionary of his time, the people had no other opinion to listen to, and generally decided to go along, as Togas was able to convince them that this plan would do the most good for the future of Madrid.

Togas chose only the best to join him in the upper classes. As the only visionary in Madrid, he became known as the Great Lord Togas. All of the people in the land would listen, and obey, what he decided on.

The upper class, the only group Togas would lower himself to interact with, was kept loyal with the best luxuries, educations, and wealth, available in early Spain. The lower class would be kept loyal through religious belief, military rule (the strong sons of the upper class), and other general ways of opression.

With this class system in place, Togas was able to cultivate an empire. As the lower class was able to build up the infrastructure of the nation, and provide food so the rich may make larger families, the nation grew, and as Madrid became the most magnificient city in the land, Togaws decided to expand his rule. This could not have been done with the chaos of before.

The "freedom" of the early days, while it was great in decadence and equality, had no elements of growth to it. Togas proved to all that a class system can work!

Put an end to popups!

This is indeed a very ingenious system. But I foresee that the day will come that we abandon this system and our Enlighted Despot shall invent a new system. I think that time won't be far away, however, I shall not walk on the fair soil of Spain anymore when this system is invented. I can only look to it from the deep and dark Tartarus.

Oh, such talk! How can there be anything better than the great despotism of our great Despot? Imagine the etiquette problems some other method of government would cause.

Meanwhile... De Plaguates clan are so happy because they don't need to own their slaves anymore. Relieved of their responibility of slavekeeping. Indeed, this form of capitalism works better!

This mean't that its not the family business to keep any slave alive, but the responibility of slave himself. Freedom you say?
No, you were guessing wrong. They were lended a crappy piece of land, and Don Plaguates do have a few mercenaries to take care of some unpaid bills and so called quitters.

They were given their freedom as paid servants of the clan, having threatened the remote peasants to provide tribute to the family. They gave their sons and daughters to service. And the servants now have to pay rent to live indoors, and they must buy their own food.

The whip is still being swung when the rent is due...
Some of the 'liberated' ones now thinks slave life was better.
A life without worries, just like in the army during peacetime.
