	Intersite game and Soren... Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

I just joined the Intersite forum, and one of the first things I noticed was that Firaxis (who are also a team, competing with Apolyton) picked Egypt as Civ choice. Soren, if you're still watching this, you didn't get any ideas in here, did you?

IIRC Egypt wasn't among Firaxis' first 3 choices. They had to resort to it, because they were beaten to their first three choices (with China and Ottomans among them) by the other teams.

Good question.

Really, I think Soren is more interested in our doings here to see how we can figure out to rip up and walk over his game.

He should stay tuned should any of my teams ever give me an expantionist civ to play...

Yeah, I know... it was more of a joke then of a serious issue. And if Firaxis was given their 4th choice, the point is rather moot too. If they had picked Egypt as first choice, it would have been more likely that we could have convinced Soren

I agree with you, nye, most likely he only browses through here if we don't circumvent too many rules. So far, I don't think there has been a lot of rule bending, though. I don't agree on the expansionist civ, seeing the game as it is progressing, it is indeed obvious that the expansionist civs are first, and have been helped by their trait, but right now, that is over. And if ND is not able to cash in its advantage by taking some of Lux's cities, it will not be an automatic competitor to win. We more or less kept up (probably a little less military, but a lot more cities), and our trait haven't been used already. It's more steady, whereas expansionists are burst-civs.

All you have to do is wait until one of the mods approves you.
You'll be approved rather quickly, since I don't think a background check will be necessary.
I'll mention you anyway, asking that they let you join before the game starts (pretty soon).

For some bizarre reason whoever made the preliminary Civ Choice poll in the Intersite forum considered America so worthless a Civ that they didn't even have an option for it in the poll - classifying the Americans along with rubbish like England and Korea.

Yes, I am happy with Carthage. Especially after I handed an experienced play tester his head when I played France and he played Celts. The Swordsmen put up a good fight, but the scads of Horse and Sword that I was able to build with my rapidly developed, slightly less corrupt cities overwhelmed him.

Most of the people in the ISDG focused a lot on the UU. What I wrote about the traits being key to a good early start and the importance of the start was largely ignored, but the sheer weight of Togas' following carried the day for Carthage so it worked out in the end.

hi guys,

so I just got my saved game, and at the risk of looking rather ignorant, could someone post detailed instructions for how I should play my turn (meaning placing the file, starting the game, etc...) I know there are some tricky gotchas involved so I don't want to screw it up (especially as I represent Firaxis...) thanks...

and theseus, carry to post a link to the "new city placement concept?" I guess I missed it...

You got to be kidding us... you want advice one how to start the game? You came to the right address, Soren

1. Start PTW.
2. click MP
3. make sure local host is on
4. click join
5. select PBEM (under modes or something)
6. click Load game
7. Click OK in popup, after browsing to the save (hey, you wanted it detailed, right?)
8. Click Launch
9. First time you start, a pwd box will open. Enter a pwd (don't wait! If you wait, you're not protected)
10. Post your password here, to be sure you don't forget
11. play your turn
12. Hit enter when it says so, select to save the game
13. e-mail it to the next.

This approach works for me, there are rumours some other approach works too. At any rate, always start a fresh PTW session before starting the MP game, and never, ever load a save in-game, start from what you got, and only save at the end, when it asks you too.

Oh, and better not touch any of the buttons in the launch screen, you might set the difficulty to chieftain like is happened in the GS game (might be some other trigger, but those buttons are highly suspect)
