Hello fellow Apolytonians.

First I'd like to say that to serve in this position for the great Nation of Apolyton is an honor that I would hold in the deepest regard and execute in most noble fashion.

Let's talk about the position a little, and what I can do serving as your Minister of Defense.

The responsibilities as laid out by our fine Constitution for the Minister of Defense are:

1. The Minister of Defense advises on the movement and engagement of combat and scouting units.

This entails that one must possess knowledge of ones own troops abilities and liabilities as well as that of the other Nations that may stand in our way on our road to greatness. While playing against Computer players can be challenging at times, it pales to that of a Human player!

I've played many MP games, in which I've gained valuable knowledge of traits most Humans exhibit in such games. You cannot count on the Human player to use logic at all times. You must use reason tempered with prediction based on previous gathered intelligence. If we are forced into an early GA we must use the bonus resources provided to immediately annex our nearest neighbors cities into our Nation. We must take advantage of our powerful Mercenary unit by using them to both thwart would be attackers and capture cities that are 'begging' to be taken!

2. The Minister of Defense advises on the upgrading of units.

This part of the position shall require the input from the Minister of the Interior, as upgrades cannot be accomplished without available gold. Though, through strategic upgrading we can avoid draining the Nation's coffers or diminishing the rate at which our wise men accumulate knowledge. Knowing where and when to upgrade specific units depends on game circumstances, but you can be assured that Apolytons Army will be the finest in the field and our cities guarded by the most loyal of troops!

This is great. Just like election day!

Anyway, I must say I agree with bigfree1 in most of what he says. I have been a civ-player since the first one came out 10 years ago. But I have only played a lot of MP games during Christmas holiday, sometimes aggressive, sometimes niceguy, adaptive, it all depends. Thats my experience.
And you know what? I have never lost an MP-game.
(Ok then... to be honest, most times I just win on a walkover.)



So I'll stop bragging now, and get to the point.
Just vote for the person you think will be most active on a regular basis here. I hope to work with this dept. somehow, but cannot do it every day. Most days I can. See ya!

Greetings fellow Apolytonians.

As I'm sure you know, my name is Trip, and I've been with the democracy game circuit for a long time. You've probably seen me setting up polls, or writing bills, or contacting you about diplomacy. Maybe you've just heard about me as one of the people who's helped start the demo games. Maybe you haven't heard of me at all. This kind of thing has been a lot of what I've done here so far.

But that's not why I came to the democracy game. I originally came with idea of becoming the Minister of War, however, I didn't want to go up again the mighty celebrated UberKrux, so I opted to become the President first and wait UK out of office instead. However, I had to leave for a bit, and I never had the chance to return and do what I came to do, so that's what I've set out to do here and now: I'm here because I have confidence in my ability to fight and to defend Apolytonia.

Why should you vote for me?

Sure, I don't have an 80 000 point deity score, and I don't have 50 threads in the strategy forum outlining how godly I am, but I do have what it counts: strategic and tactical sense, and a feel for the battlefield. I have a lot of time to dedicate to Apolytonia, and make sure I spend the time the office deserves. I make sure I always know what's going on, using scouts to discover the enemy's troop locations, and always formulate a dedicated plan to deal with the situation.

So why should you listen to what I say?

Sure, people can say a lot of things about themselves. I could run for Minister of the Interior, and call myself the best spreadsheet maker in the world, and the best micromanager and the best of everything, but that doesn't mean I am. It's hard to prove your military abilities in something like this and earn the confidence of others. You either win or you don't, and it's hard to show people how you get to where you did.

Some of you may have heard of the game Hearts of Iron. If not, then it's a grand strategy game about World War II. I have a couple threads at another forum outlining the meticulousness of my planning and my strategy that you can check out if you want to see examples of my abilities. I would bring the same level of planning and ability to my role here, and would do all I can to bring victory to us all.

I ask of Apolytonia to vote for me, because I have confidence in my ability to lead our armies. Please, don't not vote for me because you don't like me as a person, or because you don't think that I'm not an able minister. This isn't a popularity contest, and it isn't a Presidential election. Weigh the possibilities, and vote for who you think is the most able. With Theseus by my side, I am confident with the armies of our nation under my control.

As it seems the consulate has picked me and Theseus as my Vice Minister, I would like to say that it was a pleasure to go against my opponents, and I sincerely hope for no hard feelings. The Ministry of War (or Defense, for the wusses ) is open to input to all, and any suggestions will be considered. I fully welcome and encourage the participation of the other candidates.
