	A question for Rantz or Chantz Got spare money?

I know the game is around the corner, but I was wundering if you could give us or some parts of the manual since it is in pdf format?

From reading the reviews we need to reed the manual before playing and would be great for us if we could start reading before we buy the game.

I believe the answer will probably be NO but thought I would just try. You never know if you don't ask

I agree with the sentiment here... it's going to take a while of reading the manual and such before starting the actual game and it'd be nice to have the manual first.

The obvious problem is that Rantz and Chantz may assume they have absolutely no interest in publishing stuff from the manual here because us not being able to read the manual provides us more incentive to buy the game

Seriously, however... the chances of almost all of us buying the game have already been ASSURED - therefore offering some level of explanation for features we may find confusing (perhaps even things the manual doesn't describe very well), wouldn't hurt at all...

Doesn't really matter, though... we're going to have this game in-hand hopefully in a few days

Heh heh! I guess there is no harm in asking but it really seems like the whole thing is out of their hands. That is, they had a contract to produce a product and now that that product is finished, it really belongs to the mega-conglomerate IG.

I really don't see how it would benefit anybody who wants to make a profit off of M003 why they should give the manual away. Wouldn't that encourage pirating? Besides, some of the reviewers have said the manual isn't that comprehensive. You'll get more info by simply trolling the boards.

One of them did respond on this question a while back in this forum. Basically while they would like to do it, it just makes life easier for the pirates.

How so? The PDF manual is on the disc, isn't it? So pirates will have the manual anyway. And probably sooner than honest buyers.

I was under the impression the pdf manual was just for the beta testers and on review disks. The commercial product gets a paper manual.

I know the North American version will have a paper manual and pdf on the disk. I am not shure about European version, I thought I read it will only get pdf. Does Europe want to cut down on paper or paper cost? I don't know.

Any Europeans there know what is going on over there concerning paper manuals in any game?

Its certainly something that has been done before to save on publication costs. Its more common now that we have the problem of fitting stuff into those slim DvD cases. I always retaliate by not buying the game or buying from an overseas publisher. If enough people vote with their feet like that then the publishers will have to rethink their policy.

Fine - don't post the manual, post the readme.txt. That hopefully just has tons of info and no spoilers.

The main reason they can't post the manual is that it is chock full of all the spoiler info they've been trying to hide. Pretty silly to try and squash all mention of Harvesters and then give everyone all the answers on a silver platter.

Normally, games in Germany are published in small DVD covers, which only have room for a tiny manual/installation guide. That would make a PDF manual a necessity. However, I've heard somewhere (I don't remember where) that in Germany we'll be gettting the game in English in the same box as in the USA.

Yeah I just found it my self. Do I read all the manual including the Harvesters? or should I keep that as a surprise when I play?

I wasn't too surprised by what I read. But then again, I have been reading everything I could find about MoO3 for the last year or so. I think you should read the backstory at least. Its better than SW episode 1

I skipped over the race section but read the history. The final chapters of the history give non-technical information about what they are. Since this is the manual you're reading, which presumably you will endeavour to do as or before you start turn 1 of your first game, it doesn't seem spoilerish to me. I've no longer got to agonise over delaying the install to actually read up on the game
