As there does not seem to be a majority for protesting, I will ask BetaHound to present the situation to the UN and inform tham that Apolyton does not protest the change.
I will also ask him to request that a rule be put in place for future cases that will make it clear cut that changing teams will not be allowed. |
Perhaps to be fair to everyone else (so we don’t look like we’re making a special rule for one person) we could allow for the next turn, or two at most, other dissatisfied people to switch teams.
It might also be a good idea if information about all the teams, such as their government styles or language, were posted somewhere so that people could know what team to avoid. if they objected to something or other.

Posted in the Game Rules thread at the 1BC United Nations forum:
"Apolyton has an announcement to make, and a rules recommendation.
Sir Ralph, a member of our team has left the team and the closed forum at the end of the first move. That by itself is not an issue. We cannot prevent people from leaving. However, he intends on joining another team - namely borc's Webring team.
Apolyton has decided not to disallow or protest this move. He is aware of the start, but is an honorable individual. We are taking the risk of him sharing information, but he has said he will not. We accept that.
We believe that it is best if we publicly declare this decision so other teams are aware of it and do not see in it any sinister intentions by either team - which there are not. This we promise.
In reviewing this matter, I realize that our game pledge and rules do not explicitly deal with such a situation. It is not a matter of a double log-in, or spying in any way. It is an individual's desire to leave a team and join another. Given that it was the first turn, it was not deemed to be too significant a security risk by the Apolyton consuls and membership. However, as the game progresses, this will become a much more significant issue.
Therefore, I propose that a new rule be added to either the game pledge or the game rules which would prohibit a player from joining another team in the game after leaving a team, and prohibit a team from accepting such a player.
...... BetaHound, Apolyton"
