It is because you tried to enter as Donegeal_Away. That nick is naturally not recognized and your address (not just the incorrect nick) is then autobanned... which means you are no longer able to enter the room even under the correct nick.

I can see that this autobanning feature causes most troubles... I will ask Shiber if there is some sort of a workaroud.

The command to do so would be:

/msg nickserv link NICK PASSWORD

Where NICK is the nickname you want to link your current name to, and PASSWORD is the password for that nickname.

However, both names need to be registered, and the Apolyton server only allows you 1 registered name, so there's no point anyways.

Because of a number of members having troubles logging into the chatroom properly (usually either forgetting to IDENTIFY first or logging in using a temporary, unregistered nick), I have compiled a guide on how to automate the logging using mIRC. See the topped InfoCenter thread.

And to those that question this procedure as ridiculous, unnecessary, or paranoid... well, guys, I myself once fell victim to a successful break-in attempt based upon kind of "psychological" trick. Our chatroom was password protected, yet I revealed the password to a person that was not supposed to get in. And I was not acting as a fool... just that when you have no guarantee that the person you are talking to really is who you think he/she is (unless registered, nicks can be used freely by anyone with no restrictions), it is rather difficult to handle the situation, believe me...

I absolutely agree. That is the purpose of the access list, to only let users that have identified through nickserv to a nick that's in the access list join the channel. That way, attackers will have to guess someone's nickserv password or get it some other way, or actually crack into the IRC server to gain access.
This is way more secure and hassle-free than setting a password and having to change it every once in a while.

You are in the access list, you just need to follow the instructions and IDENTIFY before trying to enter the secure chatroom. If you do not, you get autobanned and someone has to manually remove the ban for you before you can try entering again. Read the guide in the InfoCenter carefully, please.
