Señor Aidun,
It depends on if you desire a realistic answer or a unrealistic one.
In the first case (realistic), we need at least 30-50 turns to prepare a winner attack.
And in this case, no one can assure us that ND don't had found another cities on the jungle or in the lake valley at the north. For me it's not possible at the moment to figure out how the attack could be done to win.
In the second case (unrealistic), I would have NOW 15 swordman, 10 spearman and 10 Horses to knock out the Neu Demons in a short time. After destroying Marlowa with the Spear-Sword combo stack, I would walk on the jungle and mountains peeks until we were on the tile close to ND capital.
A few turns before that, our Horsemen horde, would run through the jungle and reach the lake valley in order to reach the mountains on the east of Neu Theben. These Horses, would pillage all the roads connecting Neu Theben from the rest of his country, leaving their capital at our mercy.

Mostly swordsmen and some ranged machinery (hopefully) for attacking cities. Also a mixture of horsmen and spearmen in the nearby areas where we can pillage, attack and seize strategic positions. I would count on using about 5 to 10 swordsmen per city, and up to 5 horsemen for raiding. Any lesser size is assumed insignificant and should be subject for reinforcements.
quote:
Assuming you are General of Spain and on our next turn we see a stack of 10 Neu Dem swordsmen south of Marlowa. What do you do? What are your orders?
|
I would also wish for a divine intervention, but I won't relay on it.
In such a terrible event, I would try to stay optimistic with respect to the morale of our men. Even though visions of our destiny would torment my soul.
The tactical situation:
The ND stack might just stick to moving South to make them unpredicatble. Near the river south of Marlowa, they can choose to be outside Saragossa or Pamplona by the next turn. They might also split, or go between to cut our road.
What we gotta do is to fill up both cities until we see where they are heading. Warriors must move North to santiago,
(only one will make it in time) and spearmen reinforcements must follow the road to Saragossa. I would have switched production in all cities to military already, and try to use the principle of deploying a stack of a maximum size in the vicinity near them. Also, the conscript warrior should try to cut their iron supply.
Assuming I was the Devil,
I think I would split, go in between and intercept the road, flanking Santiago from two sides... So I guess Santiago is the most probable target. We should station most troops there.
If they go for Saragossa, transfer all units from Santiago there.
If they go for Santiago, do the opposite. Well, ND can go back and forth, split, etc. making things confusing. But if they go in between, we cannot transfer anything and will have to pray and hope for a diplomatic solution.

Astrologix, I want hear from you and the other two candidates a plan of how many units of each type you want to use. That means I do not want to hear things like: 'I wish I had 10 swordsmen, 10 horsemen and 5 spears'. We can all think out unrealistic plans that have no worth.
Just tell here how many units of what kind you want in your army when we attack ND. You are free to determine the amount of turns you need for this. I advise you howver not to make this amount of turns too large: the situation is one of a potential war and in such a situation it is better to be well prepared asap.
PlagueRat's short overview is an example, but don't forget to give arguments for your choice of amounts of unit-types. (see next post)

I congratulate General Astronicus for his new job. I'm sure he will guide Spanish armies wisely.
Also, the very high level shown by the other two applicants to the position show that Spain has not only one, but at least three skilled clan leaders and that any one of them could guide our armies. Astronicus is the favourite of the Spanish clan leaders, but if he decides to leave or (may the spirits don't want it) dies in battle, Spain has two good substitutes.
Long live to the new General!
