	Help: whats a typical schedule for an Israeli 5th grader like? Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

Im a little embarrased, but this is to help my daughter with a school project. She's had difficulty finding anything in the library or on the net (seems her Hebrew isnt quite good enough to decipher dept of education websites) and our friends over their havent experienced the school system. So any help you guys can give would be appreciated. (state secular prefered, please)

Uhhhhh... how would this be in any way related to Propaganda???
In my french class, for about a week we studied vocab and such as related to a typical french student's school day. Do you think they were trying to turn us French???

good question.

Seriously, a 5th grader learns some math, some literature/poetry, learns hebrew vocabulary, the grammar, some "science", about plants bugs, how rain works and **** like that, some Old Testament , some basic crafts, like using screwdrivers, saws, hammers, etc., English, and the basics of handling a computer.

and of course, Gym class, without school teams, without organized tournaments. All that doesn't exist in Israel.

*sigh*

about 20 years ago we were tops at math, and did very well in literacy, worldwide. Now we're twenty-something, trailing behind Greece, because of some people in the Ministry of Education, that brought up rediculous plans of teaching math, using 'imagination', and 'creativity'. The language programs aren't much better, either, now.

*sigh*

And the worst is that this is not a problem of money. There is plenty of money which is wasted, and that's not talking about the Religious Incoctrination that the state sponsors for the parents that choose to do so, and that's not even speaking about budgets for schools that teach nothing but Religious Mambo Jumbo altogether. They're dwarfed by the general education budget, but still...

*sigh*

Now I am sad and upset.

to all - no the school did NOT assign my daughter to research israel. The kids got to pick a country to research. My daughter chose Israel. We thought this might be too easy, since she already knows a lot about israel (having spent some time in a Jewish day school before switching to publci school) but given the sheer amount of other homework she gets (she's in a gifted and talented program ) we thought this was probably not a bad idea.

if your girl is intrested in credit points for courses , there are plenty of options to choose from , low priced trips during summer break , etc , .....

shes a tad young to go over there herself - we hope to make a family trip soon, depending on finances. I certainly would want her to join a "birthright" type trip when she is old enough.

There is a certain amount of Xenophobia against Atudaim in the technion. Can't blame them, 1700 Atudaim, out of 9,500 Undergraduate students.
