My partner and I will be continueing a saved game tonight with the v1.21 patch. According to Warpstorm, there shouldn't be any problems.

I for one say that we upgrade. Of course, it's either everybody upgrades or nobody upgrades.

What does everyone else think?

hmmm, I don't see "Fixed PBEM loading bugs" on the list...

But I say, test the upgrade with a test PBEM; and if there are no serious issues, then upgrade ASAP.

I'd say we should take our time, test it thoroughly and find out if it works with every version of ptw there is.

If there is no problem with it and it fixes the Pbem Bug then we should upgrade.

Would there be any way to get the dificulty level back up before patching? E.g. editing the save by a trusted, not-involved person? Chieftain is too easy

Aeson makes a valid point - If everybody is playing with the US version, then I too say upgrade...but don't we have players with the Euro version? If this is the case, then we're screwed and have to wait for the European version of the patch to be released before everyone upgrades.

I have applied the patch on my game (since I haven't been one of the players "actually" performing the moves) - and I must say the latest patch is great! I've continued a saved LAN game that I'm currently playing with the latest patch and it runs flawlessly!

True Astrologix - The v1.21 patch is for U.S. Versions ONLY This has already been stated by Firaxis.

I think the main issue here is if everyone who needs to play the save file for each team has an American version. Does the German team have the American version? I believe it's safe to say that the players for all the other teams have it, but we must make sure. There's enough problems fixed that if we can continue the game, we should upgrade.

The US version was sold in Germany and some of the German team have it for certain. I have it too, so for GS I'd say let's patch the game (well, I already did).

I'd love to migrate to the new version as soon as we're sure (1) everyone who would need it can use it and (2) it's been tested adequately with preexisting PBEM games.

Please don't upgrade yet!

I have the american Version of PTW and could upgrade too but there are several players in our team who can't .

In the intersitegame we recieived today a turn which can't be loaded we suspect that it is the patch that caused the problem.

As long as there are some player's around who have a non american Version we should wait for an international patch.

I repeat please don't upgrade. Not until everyone can upgrade.

I don't want to wait forever, but let us wait at least a few days longer. Then we still could patch. Right now i'm not even sure if this patch does something good for the PBEM.

On the other hands i have some PBEM's with players that have the german version. I would not like to see those games go down the drain just because i have to update to a version that doesn't give me a significant better game.

That's just moving the problem to other people. The majority here has PBEM games running with people that have upgraded. If they don't upgrade, the problem you describe will be theirs.

I see that problem but.

The people who have already patched can unpatch but if i patch there is no way that those with international Version can patch too.

If i'm the only player in this Game who will have problems then patch if you all have to but i think there maybe other teams with problems too.

I'm not saying that i'm happy with the situation but i don't see why everyone has to be so quick with patches if there are known problems that can occure.

C'mon - surely it's not too difficult to install two versions - one for your PBEMs and one for Single player use? I have had versions 1.21 and 1.29 of Civ3 installed for a long time. It's not hard - just install and patch, then rename the directory something else, reinstall and DON'T patch. You have two perfectly gooddifferent versions on your hard drive. Just ust the appropriate one when you need to.
